Our Company) And we’re looking for a Process Technician! About the
Position: E Ink is seeking a hands-on process technician to join
our Fremont team. The Process Technician supports research and
development activities by safely operating process equipment,
preparing experimental samples, and executing assigned tasks to
enable process development and evaluation. This role works closely
with engineers and project leads to prioritize daily activities,
follow experimental instructions, maintain accurate documentation,
and contribute to a safe and efficient laboratory and pilot-line
environment. Responsibilities: Safely operate and maintain assigned
process, laboratory, and pilot-scale equipment in support of
R&D and process development activities. Execute experimental
runs and process trials according to engineer-defined protocols,
work instructions, and research plans. Prepare, handle, label, and
document experimental materials and samples, ensuring traceability
and data accuracy. Collaborate with R&D engineers, scientists,
and project leads to prioritize daily tasks and support project
timelines. Record process parameters, observations, and results
accurately in logbooks, databases, or electronic lab notebooks
(ELN). Assist in the development, review, and continuous
improvement of standard operating procedures (SOPs) and
experimental work instructions. Operate roll-to-roll coating and
converting equipment in an R&D or pilot-line environment to
support material and process evaluation. Participate in safety
meetings, follow EHS requirements, and actively promote a safe
laboratory and pilot-line work environment. Troubleshoot basic
equipment or process issues and escalate complex problems to
engineers or supervisors as needed. Support equipment setup,
changeovers, cleaning, and preventive maintenance for R&D
operations. Required Qualifications: High school diploma or GED
required; technical coursework, associate degree, or hands-on
experience in engineering, science, or manufacturing environments
preferred. Ability to perform R&D and pilot-line work,
including lifting up to 50 pounds, climbing ladders, and working
around laboratory and process equipment. Demonstrate a safety-first
mindset with the ability to follow laboratory, electrical, and EHS
procedures in an R&D environment. Ability to work safely with
high-voltage and complex process equipment under established safety
protocols and engineering guidance. Demonstrated ability to
recognize abnormal conditions, seek guidance, and obtain
appropriate technical assistance when encountering unfamiliar or
complex problems. Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to
collaborate effectively with engineers, scientists, and technicians
to support research objectives and daily experimental activities.
Ability to communicate clearly and concisely in both written and
verbal formats, including documenting experimental results, process
observations, and deviations. Demonstrate an aptitude for technical
troubleshooting and problem-solving to support process development,
experimentation, and continuous improvement. Self-motivated and
adaptable, with the ability to work independently, manage changing
priorities, and perform effectively in a fast-paced R&D
environment. Preferred Qualifications: 2 years of experience in an
R&D, pilot-line, or process operations environment. Hands-on
experience with mechanical and/or electrical systems and basic
equipment troubleshooting. Familiarity with roll-to-roll film
processing and handling equipment. Associate degree in Applied
Science, Engineering Technology, Processing Technology, or a
related field preferred. Experience working with solvents,
chemicals, process equipment, and computer-based systems. Basic
understanding of analytical methods, root cause analysis, and
structured problem-solving. Exposure to 5S, Lean, or continuous
improvement practices is a plus. Benefits: The hourly pay range for
this position is $34.00 to $44.00, not including any variable pay.
The total compensation package may include performance-based
incentives, discretionary bonuses, and other variable pay
components. The salary range for this position reflects a
reasonable estimate at the time of posting and may vary based on
factors such as experience, skills, education, certifications, and
