Job Description:
The Position Maze Therapeutics is looking for a Senior
Scientist, Computational Biology to play a critical role in
strengthening and expanding our Computational Biology capabilities
within the Translational Genomics group. Reporting to the Director
of Computational Biology, you’ll collaborate closely with
colleagues across Human Genetics, Functional Genomics,
Translational Sciences, Biology, and Drug Discovery to drive
impactful research. In this role, you’ll help shape the next
chapter of our computational strategy, building pipelines, setting
best practices, and turning complex data into insights that guide
real decisions. If you’re excited about applying cutting-edge
science to make a difference for patients, we’d love to hear from
you. The Impact You’ll Have Drive Innovation: You’ll bring fresh
ideas and implement cutting-edge computational approaches to
accelerate our understanding of biological pathways and genetic
effects in human disease. Lead Multiomics Analysis: Conduct
comprehensive analyses of internal and external genomics, single
cell/nucleus, spatial transcriptomics, proteomics and metabolomics
data to drive actionable insights that advance drug discovery and
translational programs. Collaborate Across Teams: Partner with
Genetics, Functional Genomics, Translational Sciences, and Biology
teams to design studies and integrate computational and
experimental data. Build Pipelines: Design, implement, and maintain
robust, reproducible workflows to address complex biological
challenges, such as characterizing disease-associated genetic
variants and understanding drug effects on biological pathways.
What We’re Looking For PhD in Computational Biology, Human
Genetics, Bioinformatics or related field, with 4 years in
computational biology or drug development (industry experience
preferred). Hands-on expertise analyzing and interpreting data from
RNA-seq, single cell/single-nucleus technologies, spatial
transcriptomics, long read RNA-seq, and DRUG-Seq (or similar).
Proven ability to build scalable, reproducible pipelines and
analyzing single cell/nucleus data to answer mechanism of action
questions. Familiarity with machine learning methods applied to
omics drug-discovery, with practical experience in selecting
appropriate models and validating results. A track record of making
impactful contributions to early- and late-stage research programs,
including refining computational workflows, developing new methods,
and delivering analyses that inform decisions Understanding of
molecular biology techniques and assays used to generate
transcriptomics data Strong communication skills and proven ability
to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams About Maze
Therapeutics Maze Therapeutics is a clinical-stage
biopharmaceutical company harnessing the power of human genetics to
develop novel, small molecule precision medicines for patients
living with renal, cardiovascular and related metabolic diseases,
including obesity. The company is advancing a pipeline using its
Compass platform, which allows it to identify and characterize
genetic variants in disease and then link those variants to the
biological pathways that drive disease in specific patient groups
through a process it refers to as variant functionalization. The
company’s pipeline is led by two wholly owned lead programs, MZE829
and MZE782, each of which represents a novel precision
medicine-based approach for chronic kidney disease. Maze is based
in South San Francisco. Our People Maze is comprised of a team of
passionate and creative professionals committed to discovering and
delivering transformative medicines to patients suffering from both
rare and common genetic diseases. We are fostering a culture that
encourages vision, initiative and the development of talent. Our
supportive work environment inspires creative thinking and freedom
of expression, resulting in a stimulating atmosphere where people
enjoy coming to work. While we have a passion for advanced science
and pride ourselves on excellence in execution, ultimately,
everything we do is about patients. Our Core Values Further
Together – Our path is paved with challenges, but with resilience
and a team-first mentality, we’ll achieve our mission. Impact
Obsessed – We embrace the bold, take calculated risks, and learn
