Job DescriptionElegen is blazing a path towards a biology-based economy. Through unique insight and innovation Elegen can produce DNA in 1 week that is 10x longer and 20x more accurate than any available methods, letting scientists everywhere streamline and accelerate their work.We are seeking an experienced, passionate sales representative to build and drive growth for Elegen's transformative synthetic DNA products. You will be accountable for using your knowledge of Elegen's offerings, competitor products, and the broader synthetic DNA market to develop and manage key relationships that result in the achievement of sales targets.This is a rare and exciting opportunity to be part of a uniquely innovative, rapidly moving, high impact start-up. In addition to revolutionizing the market for synthetic DNA, you will be part of establishing a strong culture of mutual respect, integrity, and collaboration while working alongside some of Silicon Valley's best.Essential Responsibilities:Meet personal and team sales targets through account research, lead generation, engagement, closing and relationship management techniques.Analyze customer needs to identify new product possibilities, including the introduction of new products enabled by Elegen technology.Maintain and expand client database within your assigned territory.Expedite the resolution of customer problems and complaints to maximize satisfaction and retention.Assist management with developing sales operations (software, processes, sales training, etc.) from the ground up.Provide ongoing input to management on sales budgets, forecasting, and sales strategies/models.Attend meeting, sales events, and trainings to keep abreast of the latest developments.Essential Candidate Profile:A degree in the life sciences or equivalent industry experience.Proven sales experience; track record of achieving quotas on a quarterly and annual basis.In-depth knowledge of selling strategies and methods.Excellent communication, negotiation, relationship management and customer service skills.Ability to set relevant goals and execute in a fast-moving startup environment.Experience using a CRM and managing a sales pipeline.Strong working knowledge of synthetic DNA, how it is used across the biotech industry and the players in this market.A self-starter eager to be part of building a sales organization that will scale and grow.Preferred Candidate Qualifications:Extensive network of industry contacts (including potential clients and vendors).About the company:Founded and led by Dr. Matthew Hill and located in San Carlos, CA, Elegen is well-capitalized by top life science investors, including Andreessen Horowitz, 8VC, and KdT.
