About Technical Operations
BioMarin's Technical Operations group is responsible for creating
our drugs for use in clinical trials and for scaling production of
those drugs for the commercial market. These engineers,
technicians, scientists and support staff build and maintain
BioMarin's cutting-edge manufacturing processes and sites, provide
quality assurance and quality control to ensure we meet regulatory
standards, and procure the needed goods and services to support
manufacturing and coordinating the worldwide movement of our drugs
to patients.
Associate Director, Global LogisticsSUMMARY DESCRIPTIONThe Centre
of Excellence for Logistics Leader is a key role as part of the
Global Logistics organisation. This position will have
responsibilities across the clinical, commercial, and development
science areas related to distribution and order fulfillment
activities of BioMarin products. The Centre of Excellence for
Logistics Leader is responsible for overseeing and managing cost
optimisation and continuously improving performance of the Global
Logistics function. This role involves partnering across the
business to ensure efficient and effective distribution activities,
including warehousing, transportation, and distribution. The ideal
candidate will have strong leadership skills, a deep understanding
of distribution and logistics processes, and the ability to drive
continuous improvement initiativesNote that individual
responsibilities may include all or part of responsibilities
defined below depending on individual experience and abilities and
may change to best support on-going business
needs.RESPONSIBILITIES
- Cost Management:
- Monitor and control distribution costs across the organisation
to ensure budget adherence
- Identify opportunities for cost savings and implement cost
optimization strategies.
- Deliver on forecasted cost optimization results
- Cost Optimization:
- Develop and execute cost optimization initiatives to improve
efficiency and reduce expenses.
- Analyze cost drivers and implement best practices to achieve
cost reduction targets.
- Performance Management:
- Establish and monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) for
distribution operations.
- Partnering across the organisation to utilize a metrics control
tower and provide real-time visibility into performance
metrics.
- Continuous Improvement:
- Centrally drive continuous improvement initiatives to enhance
distribution processes and performance.
- Develop and implement a consistent transformation methodology
to guide improvement efforts.
- Project Milestone Planning and Execution:
- Provide guidance to functional teams on planning and executing
project milestones.
- Ensure projects are delivered on time, within scope, and within
budget.
- Program-Level Impact Analysis:
- Conduct impact analysis to identify potential challenges and
risks associated with global distribution programs.
- Support the development of mitigation plans to address
identified risks.
- Cross-Functional Collaboration:
- Collaborate with cross-functional stakeholders to develop and
implement distribution plans.
- Facilitate communication and coordination between teams to
ensure successful implementation.
- Metrics and Evaluation:
- Establish and standardize metrics and evaluation criteria to
measure the effectiveness of transformation initiatives
- Track and report on value realization metrics to assess the
impact of changes.
- Provide subject matter expertise to drive transformation needed
in reporting
- Best Practices and Lessons Learned:
- Identify and implement best practices to continuously improve
the distribution transformation process.
- Document lessons learned and apply them to future
initiatives.
- RFP Management:
- With cross functional partners, lead the development and
management of Request for Proposals (RFPs) for distribution
services.
- Evaluate vendor proposals and negotiate contracts to ensure
optimal terms and conditions.
- Contract Management:
- Oversee the administration of distribution contracts, ensuring
compliance with terms and conditions.
- Manage contract renewals, amendments, and terminations as
needed.
- Stakeholder Collaboration:
- Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders, including
suppliers, customers, hub leaders, to optimize the supply
chain.
- Change Leadership:
- As a member of the Global Distribution Leadership team support
and drive the change management requirements through communication
internally and externally, developing the vision for the hub team
and the broader Distribution organisation and empowering the hub
team members to make effective decisions.
- Other activities as assignedSCOPEThis role is responsible for
supporting the efficient movement of lifesaving therapies in
compliance with applicable regulations. Decisions made in this role
are of critical nature in mitigating risks for the business while
ensuring BioMarin's commercial products are delivered to patients
in a timely and compliant manner.The candidate should demonstrate

skillsEDUCATION -Bachelor's degree in Logistics, Supply Chain
Management, Business Administration, or a related field. A master's
degree is a plus. -In lieu of above, other undergraduate degree
plus continuing education in the logistics or extended supply chain
management field required -Lean Six Sigma Certification preferred,
ideally to green-belt levelEXPERIENCE -Minimum of 7 years of
experience in logistics, supply chain management or similar
business leadership, with at least 3 years in a leadership role.
-Strong leadership and team management skills, excellent
communication and interpersonal skills, proficiency in logistics
software and systems, and a solid understanding of logistics and
supply chain principles. -Detail-oriented, analytical thinker,
problem-solver, and able to work in a fast-paced environment. -Cold
Chain experience highly desirable -Proven ability to lead change
initiatives and drive improvements within and across functions
which enable compliance and mitigate risk -Ability to effectively
work autonomously and independently -Understanding of PowerBI, SAP,

position is: $134,400 to $201,600. BioMarin considers a variety of
factors when determining base compensation, including experience,
qualifications, and geographic location. These considerations mean
actual compensation will vary. This position may also be eligible
for a discretionary annual bonus, discretionary stock-based
long-term incentives (eligibility may vary based on role), paid
time off, and a benefits package. Benefits include
company-sponsored medical, dental, vision, and life insurance
