OVERVIEW:
Responsible for janitorial/maintenance and upkeep of the grounds, buildings, vehicles, swimming pool, sewer plant, and equipment of the camp and conference center. They will live "On-Site" for the
convenience of The Salvation Army for the purpose of fulfilling the obligations and responsibilities of the
Maintenance - Lead position.
DUTIES:
Grounds Maintenance:

  • Maintain grounds by mowing, trimming, pruning, ground preparation, fertilizing, spraying, irrigation, seeding and landscaping.
  • Maintain sprinkler and irrigation systems.
  • Maintain lawn equipment and maintenance records.
  • Operate the John Deere 4310 tractor and associated attachments with proficiency.
  • Maintain general grounds cleanup and trash removal.
  • Trail maintenance, restoration, and construction.
  • Maintain accurate work order requests.
  • Maintain a neat and clean appearance (working circumstances the exception). General Maintenance
    • Clean and set up, per the group's request, all other meeting rooms/buildings as required in support of scheduled programming or rental group use.
    • Assist in general maintenance and repair of buildings and facilities. Perform carpentry, plumbing, and electrical repairs as needed.
    • Interior and exterior painting as assigned.
    • Assist with the upkeep and maintenance of all camp vehicles.
      • Weekly washing and monthly waxing.
      • Oil changes every three thousand miles.
      • Minor tune-up every six thousand miles.
        • Clean and service all hand equipment after each use.
          • Weed Whackers - clean air filter and check spark plug and refuel with 2-cycle gas.
          • Lawn Mowers - clean off clipping and refill with unleaded gas.
          • Chain Saws - clean bar, refill oil and 2-cycle gas.
          • Vacuums - Service belts, beater bars, and filters as needed.
          • Keep shop neat and orderly at all times. Keep all tools in their proper location. Assist the Facilities Supervisor in any duties as requested in order to maintain a consistently high level of efficiency in the operation of the camp program.
            QUALIFICATIONS:
            • Must be 21 years of age
            • Possess a High School Diploma or GED
            • 1 year previous experience in janitorial building and property maintenance field
            • Willing to work a Sunday - Thursday weekly schedule.
            • Provide a valid California Driver license.
            • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal
            • Ability to work independently and with minimum of supervision.
            • Ability to maintain good rapport and communication with other staff members and guests
            • Possess a teachable spirit and team-oriented attitude PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
              • Ability to sit, walk, stand, bend, squat, climb, kneel, balance, crouch, crawl and twist on an intermittent or sometimes continuous basis, and work outdoors in inclement weather.
              • Ability to grasp, push, pull objects such as furniture, file cabinets, appliances, and reach overhead.
              • Ability to operate electric and gas-powered tools.
              • Ability to operate telephone.
              • Ability to operate a desktop or laptop computer.
              • Ability to lift up to 80 lbs.
                COMPENSATION:
                $20-$21
