OVERVIEW:
The Operations Attendant is responsible to the Facilities Director or Executive Director for janitorial and maintenance duties of the Harbor Light Center facilities.
DUTIES:

  • Perform tasks associated with janitorial and maintenance needs of the Harbor Light Center, Harbor House Family Emergency Shelter, Lighthouse Corps, and Officer's Quarters.
  • Maintain excellent outer appearance appeal of the campus by removing sidewalk debris, washing windows, etc.
  • Assist with facility projects involving professional vendors, contractors and co-workers.
  • Report damages, issues, and assist in coordinating repairs.
  • Perform maintenance of all properties including plumbing, electrical, carpentry, painting and building renovation work.
  • Monitor janitorial, hygiene, and maintenance supplies.
  • Maintain and safeguard all inventory, equipment, and tools.
  • Drive for pick-up, deliveries, and hauling as assigned or as needed.
  • Coordinate care for the fleet vehicles of The Salvation Army.
  • Report completed Work Order Forms to Facilities Director or Executive Director
  • Provide regular written and oral reports to Facilities Director and Executive Director as needed.
  • Undertake occasional custodial and janitorial duties as needed.
  • Assist in the removal of trash from each building.
  • Be informed of, and maintain, the SDS sheets as required by OSHA.
  • Adhere to company safety policies to create a safe environment for everyone.
  • Carry out any other reasonably related duties as assigned only by Facilities Director or Executive Director. QUALIFICATIONS:
    • High School Diploma or GED preferred but not required.
    • Experience in building maintenance and/or repair work.
    • Experience in painting and light carpentry, plumping, electricity work.
    • Knowledge of cleaning equipment, chemicals, and appliances.
    • Knowledge of safe disposal of chemical liquids and hazardous components.
    • Valid California Class C Driver's License with ability to pass The Salvation Army Driver Training Requirements.
    • Current on all product safety and handling requirements per OSHA approved training.
      • Tuberculosis clearance verification provided within seven days of employment
      • Current and valid CPR, First Aide, and AED training certification
        PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
        • Ability to sit, walk, stand, bend, squat, climb, kneel, and twist on an intermittent or sometimes continuous basis.
          • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs.
