Planet is a global company with employees working remotely world wide and joining us from offices in San Francisco, Washington DC, Germany, and The Netherlands.About the Role:
The design team at Planet is looking for a strong product designer to lead efforts building Planet's customer platform experience. As a product designer you'll be responsible for end to end execution while being a strong advocate for both users and those impacted by the software you design. You'll work incrementally with engineering and product on hard problems while keeping an eye on the big picture to bring product vision through to production. Plus, you'll get a chance to work on impactful problems, in a rapidly evolving industry, that require truly novel design solutions.
This role will work closely with our customer experience team designing solutions for delivering Planet's data products to our customers.
This role will report to the Design Manager in the US.
Impact You'll Own:


  • Gathering customer feedback and conducting user interviews in collaboration with product partners
  • Develop a confident path in bringing human-centered design to the hyperspectral mission; advocate for design, and lead with design artifacts in every conversation
  • Create UX and UI solutions for a global customer base
  • Partner closely with UX Research and Design Leadership to be able to scale our team's work, and keep learning about our customers
  • Facilitate workshops with product and engineering partners
  • Draft information flows, wireframes, illustrate high fidelity screens and prototypes
  • Partner with product management and development teams to ensure that the design work meets the highest quality standards
  • Be a part of building design culture at Planet

    What You Bring:

    • 3+ years of professional experience designing complex digital products - especially bringing new products to market
    • Experience designing for technical, SaaS and/or B2B products
    • Experience working with Figma, or similar design tools
    • A design portfolio demonstrating examples of professional projects: the results and how you got there
    • End to end design experience: You've taken projects from early ideation to live software, gathered feedback and improved upon previous iterations.
    • Experience overcoming design roadblocks and challenges
    • Experience with standard industry design principles

      What Makes You Stand Out:

      • Previous experience with hyperspectral data, GIS, geospatial data and/or remote sensing, OK if it's only tangential
      • Experience solving complex problems where you have made contributions, communicated the problem and taken ownership of existing problems
      • Experience working on teams where growth was a common goal
      • Experience balancing empathy for others when it comes to product design and UX (both end users and co-workers)
      • Experience with influence on design & design culture at other companies

          Compensation:
          The US base salary range for this full-time position at the commencement of employment is $97,600 - $160,500. Additionally, this role might be eligible for discretionary short-term and long-term incentives (bonus and equity). The final salary range is determined by job related experience, skills and location. The range displays our typical hiring range for new hire salaries in US locations only. Your recruiter can share more about the specific salary range for your preferred location during the hiring process.
