We are looking for an energetic and motivated individual who will be committed to providing excellent financial aid services to our students. The candidate must have a passion for education and mentoring students and guide them to success. Applicant must be results oriented, a team player who can multi-task, have excellent phone etiquette, presentation and public speaking skills and must write well. The applicant must have the ability to handle busy phones and emails, as well as in person/remote advising. Our financial aid office needs someone who can work well under pressure and with multiple deadlines. This position must also be able to start immediately. Under the supervision of the Director, this position performs a variety of activities to administer federal and institutional aid funds.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE:

  • Ensures optimal use of financial aid funds by awarding funds from the various university-controlled programs to students in accordance with established federal, state, and University guidelines.
  • Ensures student awareness of the various financial aid sources during counseling sessions by providing information to them and answering their questions regarding financial aid sources.
  • Assists students in the application process for financial aid by helping them to complete appropriate and required forms; by advising them of their rights and responsibilities concerning financial aid; and by providing them with information about the status of their financial aid applications.
  • Manage our online Virtual Office Financial Aid Hours.
  • Manage incoming Financial Aid emails.
  • Answer Financial Aid incoming phone calls.
  • Helps support financial aid workshops/open houses/orientations.
  • Maintains and reviews financial aid files for completeness. Initiate follow-up items requiring clarification and performs any necessary documentation.
  • Contributes to a work environment that encourages knowledge of, respect for, and development of skills to engage with those of other cultures or backgrounds.
  • Contributes to the overall success of the Financial Aid Office by performing all other duties as assigned by the Director of Financial Aid.

    SALARY AND BENEFITS

    Salary or Hourly Rate is commensurate with skills and experience.

    PM22 Job Requirements:QUALIFICATIONS

    • Education: Bachelor's degree required
    • Experience: 1?2 years of successful professional work experience is required; experience in financial aid, university administration, or a related field is preferred.
    • Technical: Proficient in MS Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint); Experience with Colleague, COD, NLSDS, Web Grants, CPS, preferred.
    • Familiarity with federal policies and procedures.
    • Excellent customer service and superb interpersonal, oral, and written communication skills.
    • Excellent organizational skills, attention to detail, and accuracy.
    • The ability to develop knowledge of, respect for, and skills to engage with those of other cultures or backgrounds is required.
