buildings.What is this role on a high level?We are looking for an
Associate / Energy Analysis Practice Leader to join us as a member
of firm's management team. You would a subject matter expert, also
responsible for leading and developing Atelier Ten's Energy
Analysis and Thermal Comfort (EA) Practice. This is a dynamic role
that you will likely co-lead, depending on the needs of the
practice. The EA practice currently has 10 members, one existing
practice leader and is looking to expand. You will be responsible
for co-leading the practice by deepening technical expertise and
keeping Atelier Ten's technical consulting abilities state of the
art and cutting edge. You will assist in developing new and
existing services and skills and coordinating between the
disciplines within the office and to external consultants. You will
be committed to the development of high-quality, high-performance
and sustainable buildings by leading and developing Atelier Ten's
technical, project management, and quality control standards
related to Energy Analysis. -You will be located in San Francisco
office (see note below).What your day-to-day looks likeDays at
Atelier Ten are filled with work on large variety of project types
from offices, labs to large masterplans. Our team is constantly
developing new approaches to decarbonize new and existing
buildings. We promise to keep you challenged and never bored. Here
are some regular tasks you may encounter:
- Develop and support the vision and goals of Energy Analysis
practice
- Contribute early project direction on building or masterplan
goals, systems, and the design approach for HVAC systems and
central utility plants
- Peer review the design team's initiatives with respect to
decarbonization, electrification and energy planning
- Interface with BEM software vendors to remain current with
industry tools
- Provide open office hours and host the "department of hard
questions"
- Integrate processes, procedures, analysis tools, and quality
assurance standards across all offices
- Coordinate research and development activities within the
practice
- Moderate quarterly international practice meetings
- Facilitate group members' individual training programs
- Conduct group members' annual performance evaluation
reviews
- Develop and monitor individual professional development plans
with each group member
- Provide support and guidance for project managers on project
budgeting, scheduling, profitability, framing, and
deliverables
- Provide senior-level project consulting
- Represent the firm at conferences, client office talks,
professional societies, project interviews, and other industry
events
- Submit abstracts to I2SL, GreenBuild, SimBuild or ASHRAE
conferences
- Maintain client and design community relationships
- Support Directors and Associate Directors in achieving local
business development goals
- Lead and/or participate in staff recruiting and training
activitiesWhat we are looking forHopefully you're on board so far

great A10er. -We are looking for someone who is curious,
self-motivated, visionary with an appreciation and willingness to
work with diverse points of view. They should have experience in
providing training, mentorship, and group development. They will
possess an eye for improving existing processes, interest in tool
building, and communicating ideas and complex technical concepts to
any audience. Some experience in engagement and outreach in the
industry is preferred. And if we're not pushing our luck with asks,
you ideally will possess:
- Bachelor's or higher degree in a field related to building
science, engineering or architecture with an application or work
experience in HVAC design
- 6+ years professional work experience in energy analysis,
building performance modeling/simulation and decarbonization
- Expertise with: IES-VE, and/or eQuest, and have experience
modeling to ASHRAE Standard 90.1, Standard 55 and 62.1 in various
design stages
- Experience in all project design phases, construction phase,
post-occupancy modeling/verfication and regulatory procedures for
energy codes and 3rd -party benchmarking system submissions, such
as LEED and T24
- Deep understanding of high-performance buildings, evaluation of
energy efficiency and carbon emissions reduction measures
- Established speaking, publishing, and/or teaching
background
- Preferred 2+ years' supervisory experience
- LEED AP with specialty, ASHRAE BEMP, CEM
- Professional certifications or licenses within area of
