Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in statistics, biostatistics, epidemiology, bioinformatics, or public health or a closely related field and three years of research experience; OR a master's degree in a related field and two years of research experience; OR a doctorate in related field.
This position requires that the incumbent will report to the official work location and live within commuting distance to the official work location. Telecommuting may not be available. If telecommuting is available, the incumbent will be required to have a telephone/mobile device, and internet access.

Preferred Qualifications
Master's degree in public health, epidemiology, biostatistics, or bioinformatics. Advanced knowledge of SAS and experience using SAS to analyze large health-related data files. Knowledge of health informatics and database programming, using SQL, Oracle, and/or MS Access. Experience conducting statistical analyses, and preparing reports, manuscripts, or other closely related materials.
Responsibilities
The Research Scientist II (RSII) will perform data analyses to support infection prevention and response activities in New York State. The incumbent will analyze and extend Department databases to monitor, track and analyze the local and regional epidemiology of SARS-CoV-2, emerging and priority public health challenges, and endemic health conditions across the Office of Public Health portfolio. The results will help to guide the Department's responses to priority public health threats and will contribute to the scientific literature. The RSII will support analytic health informatics activities, perform database programming and development, and contribute to the development of projects, studies, reports, manuscripts, and presentations.
Conditions of Employment
Grant funded position. Compliance with funding requirements such as time and effort reporting, grant deliverables, and contract deliverables, is required.
