Were looking for exceptional product designers to join our design foundations team and build the worlds greatest news app. You have a passion for designing digital products and experiences. You have pride in the work delivered and tremendous attention to detail.. You have great judgement, positive energy and are curious about the business context. You effectively communicate and present complex concepts, visually and verbally. As a designer dedicated to design systems, you know a design system is more than documentation, its the way we work together. You naturally cross borders and break down silos between disciplines, empowering designers and engineers to work quickly with high standards for quality and consistency. You are passionate about design systems. RESPONSIBILITIES * Create and implement the foundational patterns, UI components, tools, and documentation that empowers SmartNews strategic design vision. * Collaborate and partner with designers, UX engineers, researchers, product managers, and tech teams to maintain UX/UI consistency across all the product surfaces * Define and document new patterns for our design system. * Work closely with UX engineers to QA and build new patterns * Maintain Design Systems tools such as Figma libraries and Zeplin * Prototype the visual evolution of the Design System * Provide detailed redlines, specs, logic, and rules for a variety of use cases * Work across features to identify emerging trends, and turn them into reusable patterns. * Work closely with feature design teams to solve UI challenges in response to product requirements. Requirements * Minimum 4+ years experience as a product designer with hands-on experience contributing to design systems libraries for iOS and Android products. * Expert knowledge of user-centered design principles. * Exceptional attention to detail. * Strong communication, collaboration and creative problem-solving skills. * Knowledge of technical constraints and guidelines as they apply to designing for digital platforms, including iOS and Android. * Advanced knowledge of Figma and Zeplin design tools. * Working knowledge of other contemporary design and prototyping tools, such as Framer. * Experience contributing to mature design systems including component design, documentation, and educational playbooks. * Comfortable working with UX engineering teams for mobile user interfaces, including * participating in code reviews. * Familiarity with accessibility standards, inclusive design and accessibility features on iOS and Android operating systems. NICE TO HAVE * Its a big plus if you have had some hands-on experience and have contributed to code repositories for web or native apps. * Knowledge with web and mobile technologies like HTML, CSS, Swift, Xcode. * Prototyping skills are a plus.
