Job Description:

This position will float back and forth between the front and back office as needed, guaranteeing adequate coverage for vacations and staffing outages as they occur. The chosen candidate will be cross-trained to work the front office and will function as an internal float to fill in, as needed, in various capacities within the practice.

Back Office Essential Functions and Responsibilities:

1. Direct Patient care:

a. Rooming patients, including obtaining vital signs, obtaining reason for visit, and documenting symptoms their frequency, and severity.

b. Provide courteous and compassionate care.

c. Documents all required information in electronic medical record. This includes meaningful Use data, Pay for Performance data, and ACO related information.

d. Provide injections, immunizations and other patient care services as ordered by the medical provider.

e. Provide assistance during medical procedures.

2. Communication and correspondence including lab results, prescription management, and referrals:

a. Use electronic medical records and work off task lists to complete patient visits or requests.

b. Recognize urgent medical needs and triage care appropriately.

c. Provides patients with accurate information when answering questions and concerns.

d. Maintains patient records and protects patient confidentiality.

e. Complete referrals accurately and appropriately.

3. Maintain patient areas and supplies:

a. Disinfects exam rooms between patients and all patient areas at end of the day.

b. Assist with clinic upkeep, including daily cleaning and supply ordering/inventory.

4. General:

a. Remains calm and effective in an emergency or in high pressure situations.

b. Collaborate with team members on various ongoing projects.

c. Ability to follow and consistently adhere to written policies and procedures.

d. Perform all other duties as required or assigned.

Front Office Essential Functions and Responsibilities (as assigned):

1. Direct Patient Care:

a. Answer telephones in a cheerful manner.

b. Schedule appointments.

c. Take messages for patients using electronic medical records.

d. Greet and check in patients.

e. Address patient requests and inquires.

f. Resolve patient concerns.

g. Process insurance issues (i.e., verifications and authorizations) and assist patients in understanding insurance plans.

h. Return calls as necessary

i. Various assigned administrative processes

Allscripts Experience preferred

Bi-lingual in Spanish desired.
Demonstrated punctuality, reliability and professionalism.

Requires at least 1 year of related medical assisting experience.

High school diploma or General Education Degree (GED) required.

Demonstrated exceptional customer service skills.

Experienced multi-tasker.

Knowledge of medical terminology.

Experience with, and proficiency in, electronic medical records.

Computer proficiency: Microsoft office.

Must be able to demonstrate accurate data entry and ability to work unsupervised.

Graduation from a Medical Assistant program
