The F5 NGINX Business Unit is searching for Principal Security Engineers to join us in either San Francisco, CA, Seattle, WA or Boulder (Louisville) CO.

Position Summary:

Secure development team leader in multiple security domains. On our team, you will play a foundational part of building our security practice; creating and executing plans that raise the security maturity of the NGINX Product Development group. You will be managing the implementation of the Microsoft Secure Development Lifecycle across multiple products and teams, and selecting tools, modeling threats, reviewing security requirements and testing the security of our products. You will interact and collaborate with the entire F5 organization and be the voice of security for the NGINX Product Development team.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Defines, plans and executes secure development roadmap

  • Technically guides other team members and development teams

  • Performs threat analysis and recommends innovative solutions

  • Working with the development team on solution specification

  • Performs threat simulation and product security assessment

  • Developing and evaluating tools for vulnerability scanning and testing automation

  • Present to development teams about secure development best practices

  • Conducts meetings as needed for coordination and security reviews

  • Maintains and manages our product incident response process

Other Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for upholding F5's Business Code of Ethics and for promptly reporting violations of the Code or other company policies.

  • Performs other related duties as assigned.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • Strong understanding of security principles, theories and attacks

  • Expertise in vulnerability response and management, reverse engineering or penetration testing

  • Experience in programming - Go, C/C++, Python, Java, shell scripting

  • Proven experience in technical team leading

  • Ability to define and execute a work plan

  • Ability to characterize and design a security solution

  • Extensive background in TCP/IP networking and web technologies

  • Experience of more than 5 years in secure development best practices

Qualifications:

  • BA or BSc in Computer Science (MSc is an advantage) or relevant military experience

  • At least one of the following certifications desired - CISSP, CSSLP, CEH, CRISC

  • Hardworking security professionals without formal education considered

Physical Demands and Work Environment:

  • Duties are performed in a normal office environment while sitting at a desk or computer table. Duties require the ability to utilize a computer, communicate over the telephone, and read printed material.

  • Duties may require being on call periodically and working outside normal working hours (evenings and weekends).
