Job Summary

The Center for Excellence in Primary Care (CEPC) housed within the Department of Family and Community Medicine (DFCM) at Zuckerberg San Francisco General Hospital (ZSFG) is seeking an exceptional Research and Project Coordinator who is passionate about improving healthcare delivery, particularly for the underserved. As a Research and Project Coordinator in CEPC, you would share in our mission to identify, develop, test, and spread promising innovations in primary care to improve the patient experience, enhance population health and health equity, reduce the cost of care, and restore joy and satisfaction in the practice of primary care.

The Research and Project Coordinator will assist, maintain, and coordinate research processes and support training and business operations at CEPC, as directed by the Project Manager. For the Research part of this role, the duties may include collection and management of data from survey administration or chart review under the guidelines of research protocols, UCSF, and regulating agency policies. As for Project part of this role, this individual will also be responsible for carrying out critical, time-sensitive CEPC business functions including support for training activities such as meeting planning and small group facilitation, as well as purchasing, logistics, social media and website management, and agreement administration. Assigned projects may evolve. At this time, the work is being conducted remotely per UCSF guidelines.

The Research and Project Coordinator will interact with stakeholders and partners from many backgrounds in a professional and congenial manner and must have awareness and sensitivity towards diverse cultures and populations. The individual must work well as a team player to manage responsibilities across different investigators and co-workers. The individual must be able to be organized to meet project deadlines; take initiative; work with autonomy; and demonstrate reliability.

Work location: Zuckerberg SF General Hospital (Remote work per UCSF guidelines).

Additional Shift Details

Monday - Friday, 8:00 am - 5:00 pm with occasional evenings and weekends

Required Qualifications

* Bachelors degree in related area and one or more years of relevant experience and/or equivalent experience/training

* Proficiently writes and speaks Spanish

* Working knowledge of common organization- or research-specific and other computer application programs

* Working knowledge of applicable policy analysis techniques

* Proficient in communication and interpersonal skills to communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing

* Proficient in ability to use discretion and maintain all confidentiality

* Demonstrates ability to use sound judgment in responding to issues and concerns

* Demonstrates ability to analyze, research and synthesize large amounts of data with strong attention to detail

* Proficient in ability to multi-task with demanding timeframes

* Ability to work well independently, complete projects in a timely manner, and prioritize multiple projects to ensure the completion of essential tasks by deadlines

* Ability to travel between community-based sites within and near San Francisco to conduct duties (when UCSF guidelines allow)

* Able and willing to work flexible hours including some weeknight and weekend work

* Some evening or weekend work may be required for the position (advance notice may be provided)

Preferred Qualifications

* Minimum 1 year of working with underserved or vulnerable populations

* Minimum 1 year of working with behavioral change models, particularly self-management support

* Minimum 6 months of working with primary care redesign or quality improvement

* Minimum 6 months of experience working with data management system design and administration such as Qualtrics or REDCap

* At least 6 months of experience using an electronic health record or chronic disease registry, such as the eClinical Works, Apex/Epic, or i2i Tracks

* Financial - knowledge of UC Purchasing policies (delegated budget amount, preferred vendors, Bear Buy, P-card), UC Accounting procedures (daily spending amounts, My Expense), and Departmental policies (spending limits, expense delegation limits, preferred vendors, insurance coverage, financial liabilities, etc.)

* Knowledge of UCSF and departmental policies for dealing with reimbursement, guidelines for research, confidentiality and Health Information and Accountability Act (HIPAA) regulations, following the UCSF mission statement and purpose for research, and a clear understanding of policies and procedures on patient safety and confidentiality (electronic and hard copy medical records, patient charts, communication, etc.)

* Knowledge of medical terminology, research policies and guidelines, guidelines for packing/shipping infectious substances, database building/analysis, and data management within some of the following: Access, Stata, SASS/SPSS, and Teleform programming platforms.

* Experience applying the following regulations and guidelines:

Good Clinical Practice Guidelines
The Protection of Human Research Subjects
Committee on Human Research (CHR) regulations for recruitment and consent of research subjects
Effective Cash Handling Procedures
Environmental Health and Safety Training
Fire Safety Training
UCSF Administrative Policies
