We are looking for candidates to be Junior Software Engineer Fellows, people who are CS graduates, bootcamp graduates, self-taught programmers, or graduates from community college with an IT/technology focus who are interested in becoming a software engineer, full-stack developer, web developer, or mobile app developer. (Or anyone who is a graduate who is interested in becoming a software engineer, developer, etc.)
Many entry-level jobs in software or developer roles require at least one-year of experience. That makes getting 1 year of experience difficult! It's a chicken-and-the-egg problem and we're trying to build better on-ramps to jobs, internships, and apprenticeships in software engineering.In light of this, we are looking for CS graduates, bootcamp graduates, self-taught coders, and community college graduates to join a training program in the Oakland area, just south of Lake Merritt. This is a paid program; it is not an internship.
This can be a part-time or a full-time, depending on your availability. You may work part-time and study part-time with us - we appreciate that living in this area is expensive and bills need to be paid!The program will last about 6 months full-time, and 9-12 months part-time depending on how quickly you complete the projects.
A huge part of this program is the community and your fellow cohort members. You will work with them to build software, just like in the real-world. They will ask you for help, and you will ask them for help.
This is a hands-on program that is just like working in a job: there aren't teachers or professors to tell you what to you. You're responsible for your work and your projects.
****The program costs $100/month full-time, and $50/month part-time.
Program participants in earlier cohorts come from all sorts of backgrounds: some have done bootcamps, some have CS degrees. In terms of skills and academics, all have significant ground to cover in software engineering before reaching the skill level employers are looking for, and all are learning a huge amount.

We use a learning-by-doing approach. Just like football, basketball, or playing the guitar, you need to do it, practice, make mistakes, and get better. It's the same with software engineering: you need to code!We're opening a program in Oakland to offer pathways to jobs as software engineers. Previous students who have completed programs we've built have interned or are employed at Google, Apple, Tesla, Facebook, LinkedIn, SuperEvil Mega Corps, Thuuz Sports, Panasonic, Microsoft, and more. We know how to train people to the level that industry needs! We help you train and work as a software engineer and our program takes you to a level way higher than bootcamps or college, the level that employers are looking for.
About the ProgramParticipants will complete a series of projects and exercises that we've combined into tracks. Each track becomes progressively more difficult and projects become more complex. You essentially build a portfolio of work that recruiters want to see. You will be building software and spending a typical day coding 9-5, just like a software engineering job. As you gain hard skills and practice working with industry tools, you will begin working on real-world software projects that are to be part of your technical portfolio and give you the experience that recruiters and employers are looking for. This includes everything about building software (front-end or backend): problem identification, architecture and design, choosing frameworks, project management, coding and development, documentation, testing and debugging, and deployment to production.As you approach the end of the program, you will participate in our Technical Interview Preparation program. This is an 8-week program where you complete 40 interviews because just like sports, practice is important. Interview practice is important for preparing you for the job application process and so that you do well in technical interviews. You can continue to practice interviews as long as you're looking for a job.

Get EmployedOur goal is to help you get a job as a software engineer, fullstack developer, front-end developer, back-end developer, AI engineer - anything that's related to software engineering and is what you want to do. We want to give you the experience, technical skills, and interview skills that will make you successful in job interviews and on the job. We know how to train top-level software engineers and have been doing it for decades. If you want to get into machine learning, we can train you to the level required: 60% of the ML interns on Tesla's autopilot team came from programs we've built (and yes, they all got hired afterwards).We want to open a pathway to the workforce for those who currently don't have access. We are firm believers that it's not a question of having a degree, but a question of being competent.
