website.Role Summary:This is an incredible opportunity to not only
build an engineering team at a fast growing startup, but be at the
forefront of the GenAI revolution. The ideal candidate for this
role is someone who has worked as a full-stack engineer and is
currently an engineering manager at their organization.The Software
Engineering Team Lead will be responsible for overseeing the
end-to-end technical execution of our software development efforts,
ensuring that our products are built to scale, meet enterprise
standards, and are secure. This individual will lead and mentor the
engineering team, shape technical strategy, own processes, and
collaborate with cross-functional stakeholders (e.g. Product,
Customer Success) to deliver high-quality software that aligns with
business objectives. We are looking for someone who is excited to
be hands-on-keyboard for some of their work, often coding in an
individual contributor capacity. You should be excited to show your
team how it's done!Key Responsibilities:Leadership & Technical
Oversight:
- Understand and oversee all technical aspects of the company's
software products to ensure seamless integration and
functionality.
- Design and architect software tools to assist forward-deployed
engineers in extracting and processing data.
- Lead the engineering team to ensure that no technical elements
are overlooked or improperly executed.
- Provide technical guidance and unblock engineers on
architecture, programming questions, and best practices.
- Contribute hands-on code with proficiency in Python.
- Technical Best Practices & Architecture:
- Drive the adoption of industry best practices for building
scalable enterprise software.
- Make informed decisions about tech debt, balancing the need to
scale with thoughtful technical trade-offs.
- Establish robust DevOps processes and manage the company's
security posture, ensuring compliance with enterprise-level
requirements, particularly for F500 clients.
- Write and review code to support backend, frontend, and data
engineering efforts.
- Apply best practices in using AI to develop software.
- Hiring & Team Development:
- Participate in recruiting, hiring, and scaling a
high-performing engineering team within budget constraints.
- Develop the team's capabilities through mentorship, OKR
setting, and professional development, driving them toward defined
technical and business goals.
- Cross-Functional Collaboration:
- Work closely with the CTO and Head of Product to define
sprints, estimation, and agile processes.
- Collaborate with business stakeholders to translate complex
technical problems into easily digestible plans.
- Work closely with the data science team to understand and
implement research outputs into the software architecture.
- Facilitate collection of requirements and deployment of tooling
to help forward-deployed engineers execute their goals in
repeatable motion.
- Oversee infrastructure management, with strong familiarity with
AWS and a bonus for GCP knowledge.
- Lead the development and implementation of scalable, secure
cloud infrastructure to support enterprise-grade products..
- Operations & Incident Management:
- Own incident SLAs and manage the incident reporting process,
ensuring timely and effective resolutions.
- Establish and scale technical processes, including on-call
rotations, code reviews, and standard release cycles.
- Own security protocols and technical certification
processes.Role Requirements:Required
- 7+ years of full-stack development experience, with at least 3+
years in a technical leadership role with ownership over
engineering roadmap and priorities.
- Proven track record of delivering scalable, secure, and
high-performance software solutions.
- Previous experience working in a startup and building scalable
enterprise software.
- Strong knowledge in Python and SQL.
- Have a strong understanding of data science principles
including A/B testing, statistics, and basic machine learning
concepts. Advanced knowledge is a plus.
- Experience scaling engineering teams, developing processes, and
managing incident SLAs.
- Experience with cloud infrastructure (AWS is required, GCP is a
plus).
- Familiarity with DevOps, security best practices, and handling
enterprise customer requirements.
- Strong communicator capable of breaking down complex technical
problems for non-technical stakeholders.
- Experience working with or leading teams involved in data
science and machine learning integration.Preferred
- Proficiency in advanced data science concepts or enthusiasm to
grow in this area.
- Proficiency in React
- Experience in a client-facing role
- Located in the San Francisco Bay Area (strongly preferred)What
