Senior Software EngineerOur mission:Optiwatt's mission is to
reverse global warming through the advancement of smart device
adoption. We started by making electric vehicle ownership cheaper,
simpler, and more impactful, by building North America's largest
network of connected and intelligent cars to balance the electric
grid. Next, we expanded into smart thermostats, to revolutionize
HVAC intelligence and help put dollars to degrees. But we are still
just getting started, as there are a myriad of devices within
today's increasingly connected home, and utilities are feeling the
stress of rapid electrification across industries. Our investors
are some of the most active impact investing firms out there, and
we hold ourselves accountable to each other and the future

1,000,000 connected homes and beyond? We hope so.Your impact:We are
a software-focused company looking for an experienced software
engineer to join our small team of experienced developers. You will
write algorithms that will directly reduce the C02 emissions for
thousands of homes while simultaneously balancing the electric grid
to avoid blackouts. Seriously, this is exciting stuff.Here's some
of what you might be working on:
- Contribute to the development of our smart thermostat
technology with features and user-centric functionality to further
drive energy, C02, and cost savings.
- Aid in the creation of a next-generation energy management
platform, a solution designed to facilitate demand response
management.
- Assist in building out our SaaS platform to streamline
integration with our growing list of utility partners.
- Contribute to ongoing EV feature development, with new features
being added regularly.
- Work on continuously evolving our system architecture to ensure
scalability as our projects expand.Requirements:You are someone who
is---.
- Excited to work with any of the following: electric vehicles,
smart thermostats, the electric grid, clean tech
- Willing to step outside of your job title when needed
- Eager to work on a small team of talented developers
- Skilled with programming languages such as Python,
Javascript/Typescript, or JVM languages (we use Python + Django,
Typescript + React, and a bit of Kotlin + Spring Boot)
- Experienced with cloud offerings and architecture (we use
AWS)
- Proficient with SQL (we use PostgreSQL)
- Familiar with web platform technologies such as REST APIs,
OAuth, and nginxYou might be able to help with... (not at all
required)
- Machine learning/data science
- UI/UX design
- Feature design
- Developer Enablement (CI/CD, automated test environments, etc.

usThe salary range for this job is $80,000 to $250,000, plus equity
