Job Description:

Position Overview:
Reporting to the Manager, IT Operations, the System Administrator serves as a key member of the IT organization and plays an instrumental role in ongoing server and desktop support. They are responsible for monitoring, maintenance, and support of endpoint's IT infrastructure.

Responsibilities:
Implement technologies and processes to increase reliability, simplicity, cost-effectiveness, recoverability, and overall effectiveness of endpoint's networks and supporting systems.
Drive optimal solution design collaborating with architects and cross-functional teams.
Independently analyze and resolve production problems, assess alternatives as appropriate and implement long-term solutions.
Take ownership of tasks and deliver key results with limited supervision while using own discretion to seek help when necessary.
Contribute to developing a culture of testing, quality, and attention to detail by supporting industry leading practices such as writing and maintaining comprehensive test coverage.
Regularly review and identify new technologies that will help improve current infrastructure and allow the company to perform at a higher level overall.
Administer and manage certificates, files, hosting, encryption and secure tools like SSL, SSH keys.
Adjust hardware and software to optimize network performance and functionality while administering network security to ensure compliance with information security standards and best practices.
Assist in the research, recommendation and implementation of technology platforms.
Manage and own Active Directory and domain related technology such as DNS, DHCP, DFS, LDAP & IIS.
Create, optimize, and update automated jobs using scripting.
Manage, maintain, and improve production Windows Servers (including performance monitoring, backup and recovery management and documentation) as well as other production servers.
Aid in ticket management and reporting tasks.
Qualifications:
Education:
Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, or equivalent work experience in IT with a certification, such as CCNA or preferably CCNP.
Experience:
System Administrator experience in a mixed protocol environment.
Possess in-depth knowledge of network technologies including TCP/IP, Switching, Routing, LAN/WAN/vLAN, DNS, DHCP, VPN.
Hands on Cisco network administration experience (Firewalls, switches, ASA, site-to-site VPN, Catalyst switches)
Experience building heterogeneous scientific databases and pipelines in Azure, AWS, or other cloud services.
Experience with systems installation, configuration, and administration of routers/switches, UNIX/Linux, and Windows-based systems.
Experience with configuration management tools (Ansible, Puppet, Chef or similar tools).
Working knowledge of SQL Server 2008/2014, Exchange Server 2010/MS365, IIS, and some scripting languages.
Knowledge of scripting (Batch, Perl, Bash, Ruby, Groovy, or similar languages).
In depth knowledge and production experience with the VMware vSphere Enterprise, Azure and AWS.
Experience setting up and maintaining virtualization technologies in a production environment VMware DRS, HA, vMotion, Fault Tolerance, and vSphere Replication.
Experienced using enterprise storage solutions (SAN/NAS) with VMware vSphere/production.
Experience with monitoring tools such as Zabbix, Nagios, Idera, Splunk
Experience with multi-factor authentication and SSO (Azure AD, OKTA and Duo preferred).
Experience in Design/Architecture of hybrid cloud solutions including Azure and AWS, a plus.
Experience with monitoring and alerting solutions like PagerDuty, Zabbix, VictorOps, or CloudWatch.
Skills:
Understanding of TCP/IP, Switching, Routing, LAN/WAN/vLAN, DNS, DHCP, VPN.
Minimum Operating System Experience: Windows Server 2008, and Windows 7.
Effective oral and technical written communication skills to communicate information to others as well as to present information in front of groups.
Strong attention to detail
Excellent organizational and time management skills
Must have strong technical and interpersonal skills
Excellent troubleshooting skills
