The Sr Software Engineer HRIT will help support the ongoing design, implementation, and maintenance of Cengage's HR systems. You will help in defining and implementing our near-term and long-term priorities. To be successful you should understand system touchpoints and set up, such as domain security, business objects, security groups, object/process dependencies, calculated fields, worklets, custom organizations, business templates, and reporting, to update/maintain/create system functionality and solve issues. The HRIT team shares ideas, discoveries, and works together to achieve success.
Duties/responsibilities

  • Support the functional areas of our HR systems (primarily Workday) - Human Capital Management (HCM), Compensation, Recruiting, Benefits, Time and Attendance, Leave and Absence Management, Talent, Learning, Payroll, and Reporting
  • Participate in medium to large scale, complex projects and enhancements by providing Workday functional configuration for multiple Workday modules. Implement HR system changes, updates, maintenance, testing, and upgrades, as needed.
  • Support updates to business processes, supervisory organizations, role assignments, quicklinks documents, and other processes as needed.
  • Collaborate with system owners regarding set up, process improvements and/or implementation of features and reporting needs. Make recommendations based on knowledge of different aspects of functional area's needs and system capabilities.
  • Support upgrades, enhancements, testing, validation, and overall performance of systems; analyze software releases to assess impact of new features and recommend process or system optimization in alignment with business goals
  • Assist in the creation of guides, documentation, communications and/or training materials which provide end-users the tools needed to successfully use employee-facing systems.
  • Provide day to day support and analysis for the HR systems, providing accurate and timely responses to user support requests
  • Prepare, and conduct mass data loads using Workday EIB templates
  • Review and make recommendations regarding Workday Service Updates
  • Ensure system compliance with regulatory requirements, including GDPR, SOX and other control narratives and matrices
  • Follow HR Technology and IT change control processes
  • Ensure coordination & communications are in place for teams that need to know.
  • Participate in the bi-annual Workday release process including change testing, testing new functionality, and recommending which new features to apply.rowse Workday Community to research solutions or propose enhancements to current processes
    Knowledge/Skills/Experience:
    • 3+ years of hands-on Workday configuration experience with at least three of the following Workday products below: Core HCM, Absence, Advanced Compensation, Benefits, Performance, Recruiting, Learning, Payroll, Security or Advanced Reporting. Experience with platform implementations, configuration, security, and integrations.
    • Broad knowledge of Workday touchpoints, security, configuration, and integrations.
    • Familiar with standard concepts, practices, and procedures within human resources information systems.
    • Comfortable speaking with people across all levels.
    • Must be detail oriented, organized, and capable of prioritizing work.
    • Strong problem solving/analytical skills with attention to detail. Takes the initiative to research and problem solve; ability to assess how current actions impact the whole process
    • Ability to break complex projects into manageable tasks, identify and engage appropriate resources, and deliver accurate, on-time results
    • Ability to handle confidential data with discretion.
    • Bachelor's degree preferred or equivalent experience with HR Systems preferred
