About the Role Reporting to the Engineering Manager, the Senior Software Engineer plays an integral role in creating and maintaining Business Wire's multi-lingual, public-facing web sites, client portals, APIs and web services. As a member of our Web Development team, you will partner with other engineers, business analysts, UI designers, and project managers to create applications for our interactive web site, news processing, syndication, and metrics reporting systems.-- What You'll Do

• Design software applications based on business requirements that are subject to change at short notice
• Write, debug, test, and document software for the Business Wire websites, press release processing, metrics gathering and reporting systems, client portals, APIs and web services
• Collaborate with Product Managers, UI designers and other stakeholders to develop complex, mission critical applications
• Lead engineering efforts to plan, execute, and rollout new applications
• Provide operational development support to the website support team
• Understand and apply software design concepts like security, availability and scalability with emphasis on a cloud-hosted environment
• Provide accurate estimates of development time and aid in solidifying business requirements for projects
• Work independently and suggest architecture and design improvements to existing applications
• Write unit and integration tests and integrate them into the automated development pipeline
• Perform software and developer testing on applications developed by Business Wire and partner development teams
• Come up with new ideas, solutions and technical improvements for products and systems in order to increase revenue, cut cost, reduce time to market, and make our systems more capable of adapting to shifting business requirements
• Mentor and support peers, and onboard new developers-- What You'll Need
  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent work experience in a related field
  • 5 years of professional application development experience
  • Comfortable with modern version control systems such as Git
  • Ability to modify moderately complex SQL queries
  • Experience with AWS tools and services
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal and documentation skills
  • Ability to work effectively with cross-functional teams
  • Experience with web development languages and concepts such as the following are desired:
