We have an immediate need for a Vice President, Information Technology, for an embedded assignment at a leading multi-campus San Francisco college.

In this position, we are seeking a Vice President, Information Technology who has a strong foundation and significant experience in database management to lead and integrate the shared IT systems of a large multi-campus college. The successful individual will work closely with the Chancellor of the College, lead the institutional technology planning and supervise the information technology department and all educational technology as well as manage the multiple databases of the College. This individual is responsible for innovation and the operation of technical infrastructures and applications across the enterprise, overseeing system-wide planning, development, implementation, coordination, and technical support. This position will lead strategic initiatives that support an effective, coordinated, and efficient technology environment for the various campuses.
Responsibilities


Management and delivery of IT strategies, objectives, goals and projects. You are accountable for the deployment and support of assigned technology solutions, appropriate utilization of designated IT resources, and enforcement of procedures, guidelines and processes
Manage the day-to-day operations of the college's systems including design and implementation, application management, disaster recovery, inventory management and maintenance of the data center
Manage the deployment, monitoring, maintenance, development, upgrade, and support of IT systems
Ensure the campus' wired and wireless network (operating in an Active Directory multi-site environment) is highly reliable, available and performs well for the college community
Set annual performance targets for IT operations and monitor the performance of the entire department through established metrics and scorecards
Communicate with the academic and administrative leadership to ensure that service level agreements are met
Develop IT policies and implement them with the consent of the college Chancellor
Oversee and be held accountable for the installation, support, and maintenance of all systems infrastructure and equipment on campus
Provide technical leadership to recommend, design, and implement technology projects
Provide direct reports and staff (approximately 20 individuals) with leadership, direction, and coaching to achieve work objectives, improve performance and develop skills
Responsible for Human Resources actions including hiring, performance appraisals and merit increases for staff
Frequently communicate status, progress, issues and results to the business leadership, user community and IT management
Continually evaluate existing systems and identify technology and projects to improve the usability, efficiency, security, scalability and reliability of the environment. Proactively research technology trends in higher education
Establish high standards and hold people accountable. Inspire top performance and create followership out of direct reports and colleagues through effective coaching, empowerment and enablement
Travel as required to other campuses and home office locations
Complete other projects and duties as assigned
Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in appropriate field required with at least 10 years of experience directly related to the duties and responsibilities specified
Must have a proven ability to establish and continually develop a strategic vision for the Information Technology department that sets direction for the college's operations, including network infrastructure and services, telecommunications, security, disaster recovery, change management and end user support
Possess leadership experience in a progressive, higher education operation, including significant knowledge of Information Technology and strategic planning
Capable of working independently and with others, taking initiative, showing composure and exercising sound judgment
Ability to recognize and anticipate changes in the business environment
Possess strong listening skills and the ability to solve problems in a relentless pursuit of customer satisfaction
Demonstrate outstanding relationship building and interpersonal skills, even in challenging situations
Proven ability to take ownership and accountability, and to seize opportunities and drive change
