As part of the Employment Legal Team, you will play a critical role in ensuring that Workday continues to be a welcoming environment where diverse people, experiences, and perspectives thrive. The Senior Employment Counsel will partner with People & Purpose and other business functions to support our core values of innovation, customer service, integrity, and profitability, while ensuring that Workday maintains a culture of fairness, development and fun for its employees. Workday is seeking a talented attorney who can apply discerning judgment when advising on complex employment matters globally. Working closely with other members of the Employment Legal team, the Employment Counsel will: Counsel and provide guidance to People & Purpose regarding employee relations issues (including employee performance, terminations, leaves of absence, and accommodation requests); Provide pragmatic advice to the business on domestic and international employment laws and matters; Draft and review various types of employment agreements; Manage administrative claims and litigation (e.g. discrimination, wage and hour, etc.); Conduct diligence and advise on mergers & acquisitions Assist with employment-related projects, including review of internal procedures, new policies, and benefits. Required Skills & Experience At least four to six years of diverse and high-quality employment law experience in a leading law firm or as in-house employment counsel Solid knowledge of employment laws and experience advising on major federal and California employment laws such as Title VII, FMLA, ADA, FLSA and state equivalents Experience addressing and resolving complex and sensitive--employee relations and compliance issues Ability to independently determine and develop solutions to complex legal issues that are practical, clearly and timely communicated, and consistent with business objectives Excellent written and oral communication skills, legal research skills, and interpersonal skills Juris Doctor degree from a leading law school Licensed and in good standing to practice law in California (or another US state) Although not required, experience in the following areas will be viewed favorably: International employment law Commissions and other incentive compensation plans Experience with OFCCP compliance and audits Background checks and FCRA Noncompete agreements (and related covenants) Immigration and visas Antitrust Issues in the employment context Privacy issues (e.g., GDPR) Personal Attributes A commitment to personal integrity Ability to approach all situations with good judgment and foresight Detail oriented and takes ownership of high-impact projects Strong team player who can work well with Workday colleagues to solve problems Ability to work in a fast-paced, high output environment and to prioritize and manage tasks efficiently Strong client service orientation and solutions-oriented approach Demonstrates enthusiasm for solving problems and adding value to Workday Committed to his or her personal growth and development by actively seeking feedback and responding with action Posted 2 Days Ago Full Time JR-47759 About Us About Workday At Workday, our employees have always been our number one Core Value.
