Program/Shelter-In-Place HotelReports to: Site
CoordinatorCompensation: $24 per hour. Temporary Full-time Posting
Date: Interviews to be scheduled on a rolling basis until position
is filled.Agency Description:Dolores Street Community Services
(DSCS) provides neighborhood-based shelter, housing, advocacy, and
support for people seeking dignity, health, and hope in San
Francisco. The Dolores Shelter-In-Place Hotel was opened on July
4th, 2020 due to the COVID pandemic. It is one of nine different
programs operated by DSCS. The Dolores Shelter-In-Place Hotel is
and emergency shelter program serving a COVID unknown population.
The hotel consists of more than 100 clients and rooms and is
located in the tenderloin neighborhood. We require all staff to be
up-to-date with COVID vaccination record.Primary
Responsibility:Under the supervision of the Dolores Adult Shelter
Program Director and the Site Coordinator, Shelter Monitors are
responsible for the operation and security of the shelter site and
the supervision of the shelter guests. We are currently seeking
full-time monitors. All shelters operate7 days per week and
weekends are required. Shelter shift blocks as follows: 12a-8a,
8a-4p, 4p-12aEssential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Facilitate daily check-in and check-out procedures of clients
including rounds, wellness checks, meal deliveries and other
regular routines as asked
- Meet the physical demands of the position: stay awake during
any assigned shift, lift approximately 30 pounds, navigate stairs
and narrow work spaces, use a standard phone and computer, and work
independently
- Ensure safety and security within the shelter sites and respond
to emergency situations, as necessary
- Submit reports to management, as needed, using daily logs,
forms, email, and phone calls
- Occasionally assist with emergency shift coverage on short
notice
- Complete the assigned shifts as expected FT monitors are
usually assigned a set schedule
- Attend required staff meetings and trainings
- Collecting client belongings from rooms when required
- Collecting client laundry, floor trash, vacuuming, occasional
light cleaning and disinfecting of staff floor and stations as
needed
- Supporting with janitorial duties if short staffed
- Other duties as assigned and necessaryQualifications:Required:
- Ability to meet the physical demands of the position (see
above)
- Written and oral communication in English
- Spanish speaking enough for instructions and basic
communications, preferred (Fluency strongly preferred)
- Basic computer proficiency (MS Word, e-mail)
- High School Diploma or equivalent;
- At least 2 years of experience providing services to
low-income, homeless adults or day laborers, LGBT and/or immigrant
communities
- Volunteer experience, customer service experience and
transferable skills will be considered.
- Knowledge on harm reduction practices
- Have knowledge of or experience with trauma-informed
