rehabilitation, and Medi-Cal for long-term care.POSITION SUMMARY
The Cook is an integral member of the Dining Services team, with
the responsibility for preparing and cooking foods, including
therapeutic diets for seniors. The Cook is responsible for reading
and strictly adhering to recipes and food handling
standards.PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIESProfessionally prepare
and cook food while performing responsibilities and duties that
include but are not limited to:Assisting the Executive Chef and
other CooksCollaboratively working with other Dining Services team
membersPrepping, preparing, and serving mealsAssisting, as
directed, with additional duties as neededKNOWLEDGE AND
SKILLSExcellent interpersonal communication skills with the ability
to connect easily with others and be a team player.Understanding of
convalescent/hospital food preparation.Ability to interpret and
follow established procedures.Excellent interpersonal skills to
deal effectively with residents and staff.Ability and aptitude for
performing all sanitary-related tasks.Ability and aptitude for
proper and safe use of all equipment and tools.Willingness to
perform other duties and execute special projects as needed.MINIMUM
REQUIREMENTSEducation:High school diploma or GED
equivalent.Experience and Qualifications:Requires 2-3 years of work
experience as a cook.Prior cooking experience in a convalescent or
hospital setting is preferred.Must be able to maintain a calm,
professional demeanor in an active kitchen and dining room
environment, maintaining composure and problem-solving capacity
under pressure.Ability to speak English at a level that allows the
safe, efficient performance of the jobMust be able to understand
and follow established procedures, directions, and instructions -
in written and verbal form. Required language - English. Bilingual
(English/Spanish) preferredPhysical Abilities:The position requires
the ability to stand and walk up to 90% of the work time, retrieve
work materials, use kitchen equipment; walking, standing, stooping,
carrying materials (up to 50 pounds). The work conditions include
exposure to heat, humidity, steam, cooking odors, refrigerator
temperature, and wet floors.Covid-19 vaccination or
