Position Overview:
Performs therapeutic, diagnostic, and emergency respiratory care
procedures and provides assessment, treatment, care and evaluation
for patients with respiratory insufficiencies or abnormalities.
Exercises sound judgment, and developed clinical skills to provide
input to and implement the patient's plan of care based on the
diagnosis and physician orders in a timely manner. Gains confidence
and cooperation from the patient, their family/support group, and
other healthcare providers through competent patient assessment,
attentive monitoring and care, and effective communication. Adheres
to all local/state/federal regulations, codes, policies and
procedures to ensure privacy and safety while delivering optimal
patient care. May also be responsible for performing specific
procedures and/or orient other staff to the department.
Job Description:
JOB ACCOUNTABILITIES
RESPIRATORY SERVICES:
--- Performs respiratory care procedures on a routine and emergency
basis for all age groups ranging from neonate to geriatric
according to policy and procedure.
--- Assesses patient prior to delivering prescribed therapy and
provides recommendations to physician for appropriate adjustments
in the type and frequency of treatment as needed
--- Provides input to and Implements the patient's plan of care
based on the diagnosis and physician orders.
--- Monitors, records and communicates patient condition as
appropriate. Performs all respiratory care modalities.
--- Administers medications and treatments and evaluates patient
outcomes.
--- Educates the patient and family about prevention and management
of cardiopulmonary diseases; provides information about community
support groups and other available programs.
--- Responds to emergency resuscitation team calls: Code Blue/Rapid
Response
--- Provides routine diagnostic modalities.
SAFETY:
--- Participates in quality improvement processes, including
updating and revision of safety and procedure manuals and
interdisciplinary projects.
--- Sets up and removes equipment and supplies, ensures equipment
is functioning properly and stored appropriately. Maintains
established levels of supplies.
--- Provides for proper cleaning and sterilization of all
respiratory therapy equipment to ensure safe patient care.
--- Inspects and calibrates equipment accordingly for proper
operation and records the quality control (QC) results, reporting
any malfunctions to the supervisor.
--- Maintains a clean, neat, and safe working environment.
CLERICAL:
--- Performs general clerical tasks, such maintaining statistics,
writing patient charges; updating patient appointments; or
retrieving, entering, and revising patient electronic health
records (EHR).
--- Prepares and completes accurate documentation related to
patient, including all therapy performed in medical and
departmental records as required.
COMPLIANCE:
--- Performs quality respiratory and non-invasive cardiac care in
compliance with scope of practice, department standards, policies,
and procedures, as well as local, state and federal regulatory
agencies.
--- Maintains strictest confidence of all patient protected health
information (PHI) and protects all PHI from accidental,
intentional, or inappropriate disclosure.
--- Prepares, administers, and documents medications and treatments
in accordance with state and federal regulations.
--- Retains certification and completes mandated continuing
education requirements to meet facility and regulatory agencies
accreditation and licensure requirements.
EDUCATION
The salary range for this role may vary above or below the posted
range as determined by location. This range has not been adjusted
for any specific geographic differential applicable by area where
the position may be filled. Compensation takes into account several
factors including but not limited to a candidate's experience,
education, skills, licensure and certifications, department equity,
training and organizational needs. Base pay is just one piece of
the total rewards program offered by Sutter Health. Eligible roles
also qualify for a comprehensive benefits package.
