Job DescriptionCampus Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) Full-time (5 Days positions) - AM Shift: 6:45AM - 3:15PM$5,000 SIGN-ON BONUS About: The nonprofit San Francisco Campus for Jewish Living serves a significant number of patients and long-term care/skilled-nursing residents each year in its Jewish Home & Rehab Center. Non-residential care is offered through our short-term and rehabilitation services unit for patients who require specialized interdisciplinary rehabilitation to recover from surgery or an acute illness, and through our acute geriatric psychiatry hospital. With a complement of close to 650 compassionate, experienced clinical and allied health personnel, SFCJL provides older adults with a variety of life-enriching healthcare programs and services in a welcoming, stimulating environment. SFCJL's transformed campus will include the new Lynne & Roy M. All staff can enjoy the discounted cafeteria lunch and use the weekday shuttle service provided to and from Glen Park BART station.Position OverviewThe Campus Certified Nursing Assistant floats to support various units within the organization without a regularly assigned unit. Under the direction and supervision of the Unit Manager or Charge Nurse, the Nursing Assistant/orderly performs nursing care services for residents. Essential Job Functions

  • Regularly work in multiple care settings as needed/as directed by Nursing Supervisors/Managers and/or Clinical Scheduling & Payroll staff.
  • Provide a suitable environment for residents by giving attention to cleanliness, ventilation, lighting and furniture arrangements.
  • Assist residents to ensure that their cleanliness, grooming, nourishment, rest, activity and elimination are in a manner conducive to the resident's comfort and safety; reports environmental deficiencies to the charge nurse i.e. lighting or equipment problems.
  • Preserve the dignity and self-respect of all residents at all times.
  • Fully understands all aspects of residents' rights, including the right to be free of restraints and free of abuse. Is responsible for promptly reporting to the charge nurse or administrative staff incidents or evidence of resident abuse or violation of residents' rights.
  • Communicates and interacts effectively and tactfully with the residents, visitors, families, peers and supervisors.
  • Practice confidentiality about the residents and nursing care activities.
  • Knowledgeable of the individualized care plan for residents.
  • Promote restorative nursing care as directed and instructed for individual residents.
  • Keep alert to the residents' conditions and reports changes in the residents' conditioning and reports changes in the residents' attitude, appearance, behavior and physical ability to the Unit Manager or Charge Nurse.
  • Perform selected nursing procedures which do not require professional evaluation as assigned and instructed by the Unit Manager or Charge Nurse.
  • Practice conservation of equipment and supplies, keeping them clean and ready to use. Reports any equipment and supply needs to the Unit Manager or Charge Nurse.
  • Respond promptly to emergencies.
  • Promptly answers call signals.
  • Transport residents to and from appointments.
  • Lift, move, and transport patients using proper body mechanics or lifting devices for accident prevention performance of this job (mechanical lifts, shower equipment, adjustable chairs/beds, etc.)
  • Assist residents in their recreational and social activities as needed.
  • Assume group and dining room duties as assigned by the Unit Manager or Charge Nurse.
  • Recognize and respect the individual emotional, social and cultural needs of residents, including their religious beliefs.
  • Attend orientation and in-service training programs as scheduled.
  • Maintain skills necessary to safely and efficiently operate equipment and machines used in the performance of this job (mechanical lifts, shower equipment, adjustable chairs/beds, etc.).
  • Perform all job responsibilities in accordance with prescribed safety and infection control procedures, including thorough hand washing, use of disposable gloves where indicated and proper disposal of soiled materials.
  • Complete daily documentation on the care provided to each resident concisely, accurately and completely, in a timely manner.
  • Accept reassignment as needed to provide necessary care for all residents.
  • Perform other position related duties as assigned. Qualifications
    • Graduate from high school preferred.
    • Ability to speak English clearly and write legibly.
    • Ability to understand and carry out directions or instructions, both written and verbal.
    • Graduated from a Certified Nursing Assistant Program.
