HealthSector: HospitalJob SummaryThe Adult Infusion Clinical Nurse
Specialist (CNS) is a clinical leader for UCSF Adult Infusion
Centers in San Francisco and the East Bay Cancer Network. This CNS
partners with other Infusion Services CNS(s) in promoting
consistency in practices across sites. The CNS collaborates with
the Ambulatory Solid Tumor Nurse Educators, Inpatient Oncology CNS
and Adult inpatient CNS teams from all disciplines involved in the
care of adult infusion patients. The CNS is experienced and highly
skilled with an in-depth knowledge and understanding of the cancer
disease process, comorbidities, major treatment modalities, symptom
management, supportive care, patient education and research
requirements. At this operational level, the CNS proactively
embraces the NCCN and Oncology Nursing Society/Standards of
Oncology Nursing practice, utilizing the nursing process for
assessment, planning, implementation and evaluation to provide safe
and compassionate care. The CNS employees an interdisciplinary
approach across the continuum of care with adherence to National
Patient Safety Goals and regulatory requirements. The CNS is
recognized and utilized as a clinical resource and demonstrates
investment in the overall forward movement of infusion centers and
organization.The Infusion CNS promotes and role models best
practices pertaining to the care of the adult oncology and
non-oncology patient population in the Infusion Center setting. The
CNS leads work related to developing plans of care for complex
patient care issues, care coordination of cancer patients across
the treatment continuum and fosters continuity of care to maximize
patient outcomes. This role positively impacts patient care and
improves nursing practice through access to evidence based
practices, current research, cancer care trends, and infusion best
practices. The CNS participates in UCSF committees and efforts at
the state and national level to maximize care coordination and
process improvement. Candidate Eligibility for Sign-on
BonusCandidate cannot be a current UC employee. Candidate cannot
have been employed by the University during the 12 months prior to
the proposed rehire date. Candidate position classification cannot
be Senior Management Group (SMG). Proposed candidate total case
compensation offer must be below the Indexed Compensation Level
(ICL) of $340,000 as of (9/1/2021). Candidate must meet any
additional UC location eligibility requirements.Cancer Center Adult
Infusion Center. The UCSF Helen Diller Family Comprehensive Cancer
Center is an accredited National Cancer Institute Comprehensive
Cancer Center. The NCI-Designation recognizes the scientific
leadership, resources, and the depth and breadth of the research in
basic, clinical and population science. As a Comprehensive Cancer
Center, we demonstrate the added depth and breadth of research as
well as substantial transdisciplinary research that bridges these
scientific areas. The clinical services encompass adult and
pediatric tumors across three campuses as well as regional
satellite locations. The clinical cancer program is one of the
largest clinical services at UCSF Medical Center and encompasses
roughly 230 non-physician FTEs, 90+ cost center, and dozens of
grant and philanthropic funding sources. At the UCSF Helen Diller

Report.Required Qualifications Minimum 5 years adult clinical
nursing experience Minimum 5 years recent clinical adult
hematology/oncology experience Minimum 2 years chemotherapy
administration experience In-depth knowledge of one or more
clinical specialty areas, to include diagnoses, treatments,
standards of practice and patient / family educational consulting
and resources Advanced knowledge of methodology for conducting
evidence-based research, data collection, analysis, and reporting
Advanced critical thinking and problem-solving skills to assess
highly-complex issues and develop multiple options for resolution
specific to the infusion center site Advanced interpersonal skills,
with the ability to provide education, training, and direction to
nursing staff, and to develop positive working relationships with
patients, families, employees, and outside agencies as required
Advanced skills in written and verbal communications, with the
ability to convey complex and / or sensitive information in a clear
and concise manner Hands-on clinical expertise with complex
infusion patients, including specialty procedures, devices and
equipment Creative problem solver experienced in change management
with the ability to adapt and thrive in a high-stress, fluid
environment Preferred Qualifications Experience working in the
academic and community medical center environments Bachelor's of
Science Degree in Nursing Oncology Certified Nurse (OCN) Current
ACLS License/Certification Master's degree in nursing or related
area, and / or equivalent combination of experience / training
Registered Nurse in the State of California Certified Clinical
Nurse Specialist Chemotherapy/Biotherapy Certification ONS Current
