The Community Mental Health (CMH) Program of the California
Institute of Integral Studies (CIIS) is accepting applications for
a part-time (0.5 FTE) or a full-time (1.0 FTE) faculty position.
The CMH program prepares students for the State of California MFT
and LPCC licenses and a career in doing counseling and
psychotherapy.Teaching, advising and administration in the graduate
program allows faculty members the opportunity to exercise
broad-ranging intellectual curiosity; to work collaboratively with
colleagues and students in formulating interdisciplinary inquiries;
to develop and implement curriculum that addresses clinical theory
and practice, cultural and contextual influences and factors (e.g.,
how cultural, gender and lifestyle issues shape people's
experiences and concerns) and social justice (e.g., how social
justice perspectives inform psychotherapy theory and practice); and
to create inclusive learning environments for students and faculty
members.The CMH program is offered in a weekend/online format. For
Fall and Spring semesters, CMH offers classes on 5 weekend dates,
with additional online coursework. For the Summer semester, CMH
offers classes on 4 weekend dates, with additional online
coursework. Weekday and weekend schedule flexibility and
availability will be important, as department meetings and
committee work happen on Thursdays. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND
RESPONSIBILITIESDuties for a half-time appointment include:
teaching 9 semester units over the academic year, ten to fifteen
student advisees, participation in one CIIS faculty governance
committee and possible work in a CMH program committee,
participation in admissions interviews and involvement in other
mentoring, advising and program development work.
