Job Description:

Leads new investment efforts for the business -- takes responsibility for investment due diligence (primary and secondary research, biological and clinical assessment, market evaluation, and product profile positioning) in addition to all stages of deal negotiation through to closing. Provides business wide solutions by drawing on in-depth knowledge of the business and developing complex multi-faceted portfolio plans. Researches and recommends new practices and investments in support of the strategic direction of the business.

Primary Responsibilities:

Identifies new investment opportunities -- sourcing investment opportunities through a network of privileged relationships.

Leads investment theme development and prosecution.

Leads due diligence and deal investment processes.

Represents the firm on the Board of Directors for selected portfolio companies.

Manages portfolios for companions in various industries -- bio and medical technology, small and large molecules, cell genetic therapies, and United States and emerging market geographies.

Manages junior team members work during deal negotiations.

Manages portfolio management processes executed by junior team members.

Assists with fund administration -- running and growing the firm.

Monitors investment practices.

Education and Experience:

Bachelors degree (or foreign education equivalent) in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Technology, Information Systems, Mathematics, Physics, or a closely related field and six (6) years of experience in the job offered or six (6) years of experience in life sciences strategy, venture capital, or private equity investing.

Or, alternatively, Masters degree (or foreign education equivalent) in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Technology, Information Systems, Mathematics, Physics, or a closely related field and four (4) years of experience in the job offered or four (4) years of experience in life sciences strategy, venture capital, or private equity investing.

Skills and Knowledge:

Candidate must also possess:

Demonstrated Expertise (DE) performing due diligence for private U.S. and China-based companies across the life sciences, medical technology, and healthcare information technology sectors -- performing market analyses by obtaining key private and public company and market information from U.S. and China-based sources (Informa BioMedTracker, CapIQ, Bloomberg, Pitchbook, and China Venture Source).

DE conducting technical due diligence on life sciences investment opportunities, including performing scientific evaluations (scientific literature searches, IP landscape analyses, and pre-clinical in vitro and in vivo study report reviews) and clinical and regulatory assessments (clinical data evaluations, clinical study design analysis, competitive clinical data benchmarking, regulatory correspondence reviews).

DE building revenue forecast models, modeling company financials (P&L, balance sheet, and cash flows), and constructing investment returns analyses (discounted cash flows, comparables analysis, and capitalization table modeling) for companies in the life sciences, medical technology, and healthcare information technology sectors.

DE leading corporate strategy planning and complex business discussions and negotiations on behalf of senior investment professionals with prospective target investment companies, existing portfolio companies, and business vendors in the U.S. and China.
