Job Summary

Reporting to the SVP/COO for UCSF Health, the Director of Business Affairs serves as the lead with broad level authority to provide executive programmatic, analytical and financial oversight for the COO s capital and operating budget.

This position is responsible for directing the strategy development, implementation and maintenance of all financial planning functions for the COO including operational budgeting, productivity, long range financial planning, capital planning, cost accounting, decision support, service line analysis, business planning, financial analysis and benchmarking.

The Director is a customer-facing role; this leader must establish a strong working relationship with internal and external customers, clearly understand their goals and requirements in order to facilitate the optimal deployment solutions while keeping priorities and resource constraints in mind.

In UCSF s highly matrixed organization, this position needs to be able to influence people that do not directly report to them and must possess strong interpersonal skills.

Required Qualifications

* Eight years financial performance management in health care, trends and variances (operating budget, capital allotted spent, and revenue cycle), financial policies and practices; human resource planning

* Bachelor's Degree in related area and / or equivalent experience / training

* Advanced skills to educate management and tailor decision support objectives and goals to meet a broad variety of needs

* Excellent leadership skills, with the ability to create and maintain a goal-oriented climate of teamwork and collaboration across departments for effective problem solving, conflict resolution, support for organizational values, and consistent achievement of objectives

* Excellent critical-thinking and business process skills, with the ability to implement effective solutions

* Excellent interpersonal and communications skills. Excellent ability to motivate, influence, and persuade others, and cultivate a strong commitment to efficiency, functionality, and quality customer service

* Ability to evaluate processes to establish and maintain appropriate accountability structures and strong internal control elements

* The flexibility to orient and work at all UCSF Health locations

Preferred Qualifications

* Master s Degree in Business, or related field

* Knowledge of clinical, financial, and business information technology software, hardware, tools, techniques, and systems

Work Environment

* Keeps working areas neat, orderly and clutter-free, including the hallways. Adheres to cleaning processes and puts things back where they belong. Removes and reports broken equipment and furniture.

* Picks up and disposes of any litter found throughout entire facility.

* Posts flyers and posters in designated areas only; does not post on walls, doors or windows.

* Knows where the Environment of Care Manual is kept in department; corrects or reports unsafe conditions to the appropriate departments.

* Protects the physical environment and equipment from damage and theft.

The flexibility to orient and work at all UCSF Medical Center locations is required.
