The Role

The Vice President of Portfolio and Program Management is responsible for defining investment priorities and optimization of critical enabling technologies across Hitachi Vantara s portfolio. This executive is accountable to align, monitor, and deploy strategies to support the Product Roadmap/Strategy. This key role partners with Product Management, Sales, Engineering, and Operations. The VP will manage overall allocation of resources across the product portfolio based on strategy, establish KPIs to assess portfolio strength, and monitor ongoing portfolio performance. The VP of Portfolio and Program Management will ensure all portfolio strategies are aligned to the Hitachi Vantara Product Roadmap and/or strategic direction. The position reports into the SVP of Product Operations.

Responsibilities

* Determine impact of corporate and product strategy on the product lines and products, and guide product lines in building annual plans and roadmaps that align with strategy

* Work with Product Management, Engineering, Strategy and other stakeholders to standardize the use of technology across the portfolio and eliminate duplication of investment, while maximize leverage of available and differentiating technology for use in Product Roadmap

* Align with Sales, Service, and other stakeholders on product strategy and roadmap to coordinate development, launch, and support efforts for products and offerings

* Select and deploy Enterprise Software to manage resources, cost, schedules, prioritize and rank portfolio technologies

* Oversee and manage the technology lifecycle through planning, execution and commercialization

* Facilitate program management processes (intake, discovery and approval) with departmental stakeholders, strategy & planning

* Coach, mentor, manage, educate and develop skill sets of program and project teams

* Inform the overall allocation of portfolio budget and resources in alignment with corporate and product strategy, balancing across core, growth, and innovation areas of the portfolio

* Establish KPI s to assess strength of portfolio mix and manage team to track and analyze on an on-going basis

* Create a common scorecard to measure a product line performance and establish KPIs each fiscal year (e.g., virtual P&L, market penetration)

* Assess program risks by evaluating delivery performance, available resources, benefits and budget. Effectively communicate problems, issues, risks, solutions to appropriate stakeholders and leadership. On an ongoing basis, monitor the metrics of all projects for significant deviations in quality, schedule, or cost

* Drive alignment between program execution capability and Hitachi Vantara strategic goals, coordinating with stakeholders to prioritize efforts with highest return on investment. Drive change where required to optimize and monetize the Portfolio for use in the Product Roadmap

* Inform development and continuous improvement of standardized management process (e.g. PLM, NPI) and governance with industry-leading tools and enabling technology

* Coordinate between Sales and Service to ensure alignment between portfolio release schedule, offering roadmap, and sales/GTM strategy

* Act as a strategic liaison between executives, business management/employees, the project management office, and Hitachi Ltd. and develop executive level presentations and present as needed.

Qualifications

* Proven executive with high-tech expertise and experience developing strategy for complex portfolios of hardware and software products with resources span across multiple locations

* Proven executive leading cross functional teams for a large (fortune 500) multinational company

* Proven experience in project/program/portfolio management leading large scale, complex initiatives with multiple stakeholder groups

* Significant experience with Phase Gate Development Processes, PLM methodologies including and Agile development process

* Proven experience in managing WW Organizational Transformation activities as related to Portfolio selection, Product Development and Operations for a fortune 500 company.

* Demonstrated ability to build consensus and drive change across functions and within a complex organization

* Strong problem solving and negotiating skills, with the ability to work across organizational boundaries to drive closure of complex development challenges

* Strong business and technical acumen, including the ability to quickly understand and communicate technical concepts and challenges across multiple levels and disciplines

* Efficient time manager; ability to successfully multi-task in a dynamic environment with shifting priorities

* Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the confidence and credibility to effectively engage and interact with executive management

* Bachelor's in engineering, computer science, information technology, or related field; Masters/MBA degree preferred

* 20-25% Travel both domestic and international
