Company was founded in 2008 and is headquartered in San Francisco. We have 70+ employees working from regional offices and give work to thousands of people in distribution centers in Kenya, Uganda, and India. Location of the role can either be San Francisco, CA or New York, NY. Job Summary Reporting directly to the CEO, the Chief of Staff organizes and prioritizes critical issues and required information for the CEO to facilitate efficient decision making. The Chief of Staff provides oversight and guidance to projects of high importance and acts as an advisor to the CEO. (S)he identifies priorities, strategically aligns the CEO’s time to them, and revisits them regularly to assess progress. (S)he provides executive support in a one-on-one working relationship and serves at the primary point of contact for internal and external contacts on all matters pertaining to CEO. The Chief of Staff manages the CEO’s personal assistant and also serves as a liaison to the board of directors and senior management teams and oversees special projects. (S)he must enjoy working within a small, entrepreneurial environment that is mission-driven and results-driven. The ideal individual will have the ability to exercise good judgment in a variety of situations, with deep experience working with C and VP levels, administrative and organizational skills and the ability to maintain a realistic balance among multiple priorities. The Chief of Staff will have the ability to work independently on projects from conception to completion, and must be able to work under pressure at times to handle a wide variety of activities and confidential matters with discretion. Roles and Responsibilities Drive CEO Board Activities Works closely and effectively with the CEO to keep her informed of upcoming commitments and responsibilities, following up appropriately. Serves as primary liaison between Chairman and her Board of Directors. Manages Board meeting prep and agenda Works with Company Financial team to provide updates to investors Communicates directly, when asked, on behalf of the CEO with Board members, donors and others, on matters related to CEO's initiatives. Corporate Secretary Duties: take meeting notes, compile and distribute official minutes, communicate action items, and provide support on required corporate documents. Manage CEO-Led Business Development Attend high priority speaking engagements and meetings with CEO to help capitalize on introductions and business opportunities. Follow up directly with CEO relationships, supporting relationship management and cultivation, to identify opportunities for new business, investment, grant making or media. Opportunities will span all Sama businesses including Company, Samaschool, Advisory Services. Upon opportunity identification work with the appropriate Sama leadership to drive forward opportunities to close CEO Marketing Support Support the development of media relationships for CEO and identification of most impactful press and media opportunities. Prepare presentations for internal and external audiences. This involves facilitating the setting of topics for company-wide meetings, helping to prepare speakers from across the company, as well as owning other communications such as the Chairman newsletter. Requirements 10+ years of relevant experience at a high tech company or services company. A minimum of 5 years of business development experience with marketing experience a plus. Business development experience must include holding a quota and the ability to work with large enterprises and executives Experience leading cross cutting functional projects Significant cross-functional project experience, working with senior stakeholders, across departments. Bachelor's degree and MBA a plus. Fluency with MAC OS, Microsoft Office Suite, Evernote, Google apps and Salesforce Impeccable written and verbal communication skills Strong organizational skills that reflect ability to perform and prioritize multiple tasks seamlessly with excellent attention to detail Ability to use a high degree of confidentiality with sensitive information Outgoing personality with a great sense of humor Must be eligible to work in the U.S. Travel as needed Ability to be flexible to CEO timelines and schedule
