Job Description:
Scion Nonprofit, an award-winning full-service staffing firm,
has been engaged to conduct an immediate search for a Chief
Executive Officer on behalf of our client, a successful
professional trade association based in the San Francisco East
Bay.POSITION OVERVIEW:The CEO reports to the Board of Directors and
is the highest-ranking executive in the organization, responsible
for the overall leadership, strategy, and operational management of
the professional trade association. This individual will work
closely with the Board of Directors, members, and stakeholders to
advance this thriving association's mission, vision, and goals. The
CEO will serve as the primary representative and advocate for the
association, fostering relationships that promote the industry's
growth, sustainability, and success.RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Develop and implement a strategic plan to advance the
association's mission, ensuring alignment with the needs of members
and industry trends.
- Provide visionary leadership to anticipate challenges and
opportunities in the industry.
- Collaborate with the Board of Directors to establish goals, set
priorities, and drive organizational success.
- Advocacy and Representation
- Act as the primary spokesperson and advocate for the
association, representing members' interests with government
agencies, policymakers, and key stakeholders.
- Monitor and respond to legislative and regulatory developments
affecting the industry.
- Build and maintain relationships with industry partners, public
officials, and community leaders to enhance the association's
influence and impact.
- Member Engagement and Growth
- Oversee efforts to attract, retain, and engage association
members by providing value-added services, resources, and
opportunities.
- Foster an inclusive environment that encourages participation
and collaboration among members.
- Ensure the association addresses the evolving needs of its
diverse membership base.
- Operational Management
- Lead and manage the day-to-day operations of the association,
including staff oversight, budget management, and program
execution.
- Evaluate organizational performance and implement improvements
to enhance efficiency and effectiveness.
- Ensure financial sustainability through effective fiscal
management, including budget preparation, revenue generation, and
cost control.
- Workforce Development and Industry Advancement
- Drive innovation and thought leadership by developing programs
that address emerging trends, technologies, and challenges.
- Promote education, training, and workforce development
initiatives to support the long-term success of the industry.
- Work closely with the Board of Directors to ensure alignment of
strategic priorities and governance.
- Support the Board's efforts to fulfill its fiduciary and
governance responsibilities.
- Provide regular updates on organizational performance, key
initiatives, and industry developments.MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
- Bachelor's degree required; advanced degree (e.g., MBA, MPA, or
related field) preferred.
- Minimum 10 years of leadership experience, ideally in a trade
association, nonprofit organization, or related industry.
- Proven track record of successfully managing teams, budgets,
and complex organizational operations.
- Experience in public policy advocacy and government relations
is highly desirable.Skills and Competencies
- Exceptional strategic thinking and vision, with the ability to
inspire and lead diverse stakeholders.
- Financial acumen and ability to manage budgets, develop revenue
streams, and ensure financial sustainability.
- Collaborative leadership style with a focus on teamwork,
inclusion, and member engagement.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills, including the
ability to build relationships with a wide range of
audiences.COMPENSATION AND BENEFITS:This full-time onsite role is
open to candidates who can reside permanently in the San Francisco
Bay Area. In addition to a competitive base salary of $250,000 to
$300,000 (DOE), this incredible role provides a comprehensive
benefits package and a collaborative and accomplished team
dedicated to the mission.TRAVEL:This role requires occasional
travel to attend events, meet with stakeholders, and conduct
