Job Description:

Project Director - University of California, San Francisco
Working closely with the Principal Investigator, the Project Director will have responsibility for overseeing operational activities of a UCSF health disparities research program that investigates how clinical and behavioral factors converge to influence health over time. The program includes multiple studies that obtain both clinical and community-based data, including "Cocaine Use, Viral Suppression and Precursors of Stroke in HIV Infection" (aka: CUPS), a study that investigates the influences of substance and medication use on inflammation and cerebrovascular health (e.g., stroke risk) in people living with HIV.
The goals of the study are to:

(3) provide a strong training environment for early-stage investigators.
The Project Director will play a key role in guiding the research activities, including maintaining and managing complex timelines, planning research meetings, coordinating human subjects research approval, recommending and implementing study policies and procedures, and supervising study staff. The Project Director will also assist in the development and implementation of data collection tools, work closely with senior investigators to ensure the successful execution of research plans and overall goals, participate in the development of grant applications and contribute to manuscripts that report study findings.
Qualified individuals with interest in leading manuscripts and/or their own sub-studies will be supported to do so.

  • Previous experience in an academic research unit working with research teams and faculty
  • Previous management and supervisory experience
  • Experience working with low-income, vulnerable study participants
  • Knowledge of HIV/AIDS concepts and clinical practices
  • Strong organizational skills and excellent attention to detail
  • Demonstrated ability to interact effectively with a diverse group of colleagues, including senior investigators, administrative staff, federal funding agency representatives, and community partners
  • Strong writing
  • Experience preparing tables, charts, and graphs
  • Familiarity with quantitative data collection techniques
