As the Associate Director, Program Management for Cloud Software, you will be responsible for ensuring the success of a complex, multi-year, multi-project program within Bio-Rad's Quality Systems business. This critical leadership role is accountable for successful development and commercialization of a growing family of software applications that help clinical laboratories worldwide to connect and track the performance of their clinical testing systems - a key enabler for labs to provide accurate clinical information to physicians and patients.You will directly support the business' long-range strategic plan by driving cross-functional excellence. Areas of excellence include defining customer and business value drivers, implementing best practices for software design and development, and global commercialization. This leader will partner closely with the executive and functional leadership teams and lead a senior-level Core Team through rigorous planning, execution, and risk management to deliver value to our customers and our business..How You'll Make An Impact:


  • Leads cross-functional teams to develop software solutions, from initiation through commercial launch, with the goal of delivering high-quality outcomes within agreed-upon schedule, resources, budget, and scope. You will lead one or more direct-report Project Managers leading elements within the cloud-software program. Provides day-to-day guidance, manages performance, and actively engages in coaching and development.Builds strong team motivation, alignment, and morale by creating common purpose and direction. Promotes an inclusive work environment to promote and leverage a diversity of perspectives and expertise.
  • Ensures alignment across product value proposition, program scope, and strategic business objectives and acts as program champion across the organization. Leads the team to prepare for Phase Gate and other Go/No-Go decisions by executive leadership, ensuring such decisions are informed by a balanced and clearly articulated representation of the relevant data.
  • Ensures that requirements are clear, data-based, and driven by customer insights, market needs, and business insight and directs the development of bottoms-up plans and ensures cross-functional alignment to plans.
  • Develops, refines, and continuously monitors progress against an accurate integrated program plan with measurable milestones and goals that form the basis of functional workstreams and deliverables. Defines program resource needs and negotiates program resourcing plans. Works with functional leaders to ensure the appropriate resources are committed to the program and partners with functional managers to ensure performance excellence.
  • Proactively manages program risks. Drives mechanisms and management techniques that ensure an open and transparent approach to the identification, communication and timely resolution of issues, risks, and challenges affecting program deliverables.
  • Establishes and evaluates the roles, responsibilities, goals, deliverables and performance of core and extended team members.
  • Prepares and manages the project contract with the executive leadership team for each phase of a project or program.
  • Analyzes optionality and leads the team to recommend specific courses of action, articulating implications to budget, resources, business case, and customer value.
  • Ensures that internal governance mechanisms, such as core team meetings, key technical design and commercial excellence and functional reviews are timely, comprehensive, and effective.
  • Oversees adherence to a structured design and development process, ensuring compliance with quality management systems and regulatory requirements where applicable.
  • Raises the bar on critical thinking, challenging the team and the organization to rethink assumptions and approach headwinds in new ways. Facilitates problem-solving and optionality. Leads trade-off decisions across functions for optimal business outcomes.
  • Actively manages project stakeholders, anticipating information and engagement needs, and making effective use of both formal and informal communication mechanisms.
  • Deploys a continuous-improvement mindset and best-practice expertise to contribute to the strategic objectives of the Program Management Office.
    What You Bring:

    • Exceptional leadership skills. Adept at leading with and without direct authority, orienting team members, leaders, and stakeholders around shared objectives.
    • Ability to create forward momentum in the face of uncertainty and challenge. Strong bias towards action.
    • Must have strong business acumen and a demonstrated ability to link business and strategic objectives to detailed project plans.
    • Experience managing and coaching direct reports is preferred.
    • Experience in product development project management. Experience leading software development and/or healthcare SaaS projects is strongly preferred. Knowledge and experience in Agile Transformation and Scaled Agile methodologies is preferred.
    • Ability to assess the level of leadership most needed to remove obstacles and create forward momentum - diving deep into details when needed and zooming out to the big picture when needed. Ability to identify collaborative ways to solve problems.
    • Adept at searching for program risks and enacting early mitigations.
    • Excellent critical thinking, analytical, and communication skills, including executive communication.
    • Bachelor's degree in engineering, business, science, or a related field.
    • Advanced degree and/or certification in a relevant area is preferred (e.g. MBA, PhD, MS, PMP).

Compensation: The estimated base salary range for this position is $165,700 to $227,800 at the time of posting. Actual compensation will be provided in writing at the time of offer, if applicable, and is based on several factors we believe fairly and accurately impact compensation, including geographic location, experience, knowledge, skills, abilities, and other job permitted factors.
