POSITION SUMMARY:
Under the direction of the Director of Outreach, Peninsula Region,
the Volunteer and Outreach Manager plays a key role in raising the
profile of JFCS in the community by building relationships with
individuals and organizations and encouraging their involvement in
JFCS. The Volunteer and Outreach Manager develops and manages
community and volunteer initiatives that extend our services those
who need them and connects the community with JFCS.
The Volunteer and Outreach Manager assists in meeting budget and
services goals, understands the mission and objectives of Jewish
Family and Children's Services and works within the limitations of
the Agency's resources, and, performs all duties in compliance with
agency standards.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Implements strategies for targeted outreach to engage both
individuals and organizations with JFCS and to recruit volunteers,
attracting a cadre of trained, motivated, and engaged volunteers to
support the JFCS' programs and clients
Manages direct service volunteer programs in the SF region
Acts as liaison between client, volunteer and case managers to
ensure that appropriate resources are provided to address client
needs
Manages volunteer inquiries, and develops volunteer screening,
orientation and training procedures that prepare volunteers for the
range of services they provide and effectively link volunteer
service to Jewish values and traditions
Under the supervision of the Director of Outreach, replicates
successful engagement programs from other regions that focus on
education and direct service
Ensures that volunteer program policies and procedures reflect best
practices in the field of volunteer management and Jewish service
learning
Participates in JFCS and departmental meetings and trainings and
represents department in a professional demeanor
Maintains client privacy and confidentiality
Fosters a spirit of teamwork and unity among JFCS staff that allows
for cultivating ideas, expeditious resolution of conflict, and the
appreciation of diversity as well as cohesiveness, supportiveness,
and working together to enable each employee and the department to
succeed
Complies with the Jewish Family and Children's Services Policy and
Procedures Manual, as well as agency health and safety standards
for clients, employees, and the facility
Performs other duties as assigned by the Director of Outreach
Requirements:
PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
The physical demands described below are representative of those
that must be met by an employee to success folly perform the
essential functions of this job.
Must be able to remain in a stationary position 50% of the time
The person in this position needs to occasionally move about inside
the office to access file cabinets, office machinery, etc.
Constantly operates a computer and other office productivity
machinery, such as calculator, copy machine, and computer
printer
May be required to lift up to ten (10) pounds
The person in this position requires communication with
departmental staff, employees, and outside clients
Must be able to exchange accurate information in these
situations
Exposure to low to moderate noise levels characteristic of working
in an office environment
REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND QUALIFICATIONS:
Bachelor's degree & 3 years of experience in volunteer management
or a related field of work preferred
Knowledge of Jewish traditions, holidays, and customs
Knowledge of Jewish organizations on the Peninsula
Ability to work weekends and evenings
Have excellent oral and written English communication and computer
skills
Has excellent networking and outreach skills
Commitment to and enthusiasm for the mission, goals, and objectives
of the Agency
This is a full-time, non-exempt position with benefits.
