Dolby constantly invests in this area to ensure that we continue to have good future ahead of us, while at the same time we provide positive value-add cutting-edge technology offerings to the ecosystem, so that the ecosystem participants and the end users will have access to advanced technologies. - We are looking for a highly experienced & proven expert in the development of image and video coding technologies and in enhancing Dolby's role in the international standardization of such technologies. The qualified candidate will develop novel image/video processing and video compression technologies, in close collaboration with his/her peer experts, that will advance the existing/new video standards, play an active role in leading & guiding global standards development organizations and advise Dolby teams on related technology development initiatives using learning-based algorithms that enables the next generation of Dolby technologies. RESPONSIBILITIES -

  • Develop new and novel algorithms, technologies in video coding & processing, that will benefit existing and new video coding technology standards. Sample areas include the H.265/HEVC, H.266/VVC codecs, VSEI messages, HLS (high level syntax), neural-network based coding techniques,
  • Act as valued expert advisor and collaborator to Dolby Advanced Technology Group's strategic technology investments in imaging/video processing & coding technologies.
  • Represent Dolby in leading video and imaging technology standards development activities with global recognition. QUALIFICATIONS
    • Expertise and proven track record in successful development of video coding, MPEG video codecs, image processing, related algorithms and shepherding the work in standardizing these technologies.
    • Leadership experience with extensive professional network in internationally recognized image & video technology standards organizations.
    • Well-established research background in image/video processing and image/video coding, or related fields.
    • Proven track record of publications in first-tier conferences and/or peer-reviewed academic journals.
    • Superb written and verbal communication skills. Strong team player. -
    • Ph.D. degree in Electrical Engineering or Computer Engineering.
    • Ability and willingness to travel internationally for technology standardization work. The San Francisco/Bay Area base salary range for this full-time position is -$241,900 - 300,400plus bonus, equity, and benefits, and can vary if outside of this location. Our salary ranges are determined by role, level, and location. Within the range, individual pay is determined by work location and additional factors, including job-related skills, competencies, experience, market demands, internal parity, and relevant education or training.
