Job SummaryWe are seeking a Senior Manager of Project Development
to join the Renewable Natural Gas (RNG) Development team. The ideal
candidate will have specific recent experience in the development
of renewable energy or gas projects. The candidate will be expected
to lead the development of both greenfield and acquisition projects
from the early stages of diligence through construction start in a
dynamic and rapidly changing environment. Candidates must have a
track record of quickly ramping up in new energy markets/regions,
on-the-job problem solving, and the ability to communicate
professionally in a variety of settings.
Duties will include coordinating and prioritizing internal and
external resources, performing site visits, securing discretionary
permits and interconnection agreements, negotiating land
acquisition, community outreach, operating of Pro-forma models, and
community outreach.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead all aspects of the complex project development process by
effectively managing land rights negotiation, permitting,
interconnection, community approval, and internal championing for
multiple projects;
- Collaborate with colleague departments (including origination,
engineering, finance, construction, and O&M) and direct
external consultants to ensure the successful development of viable
projects;
- Develop and implement tactical execution plans to ensure
projects stay on budget and schedule through all phases of the
development process;
- Conduct due diligence to assess risks and viability of
early-stage projects;
- Develop and maintain relationships with project stakeholders,
including landowners, regulators, and utilities, across the
country, often in remote locations;
- Foster community engagement, secure grants, and tax abatements,
and understand relevant regulatory and utility requirements;
- Work with the project team/finance department to determine and
validate assumptions and develop accurate models of project
economics;
- Approximately 25-50% travel to customer locations for meetings
and presentations.
Knowledge & Skills
- Knowledge of development in new greenfield renewables project
development obtained through demonstrated experience is preferred
but not required
- Strong organization, problem-solving, and communication
skills
- Understanding of energy markets (electricity and natural
gas)
- Strong leadership and strategic skills with an ability to
balance and prioritize competing interests
- Excellent oral and written communication and presentation
skills;
- Excellent interpersonal and time management skills
- Entrepreneurial, self-starter with a burning desire to learn
and win
- Effective at creating, summarizing, and presenting information
logically for executive decision making
- Knowledge of finance and business concepts
- Fluency in MS Excel, MS Project, PowerPoint, and Word

and external sources
- Ability to synthesize and interpret financial analysis and use

Experience & Education
- Bachelor's degree in engineering, economics, or business
- 5+ years of experience in renewables development or similar
field
Preferred Requirements
- MBA or other relevant advanced degrees
- Energetic and aggressive in pursuing opportunities
- Results-oriented with the ability to work independently in an
entrepreneurial environment
- Knowledge of legislative and regulatory issues affecting AD
energy project development
- Strong desire to advance waste and energy solutions that bring
