ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
The Social Media and Digital Content Manager is an integral part of
a multi-disciplinary Communications team that includes integrated
marketing, creative services, web administration, and media
relations and supports the delivery of the University's content to
diverse audiences, including students, faculty, staff, alumni,
donors, the Board of Trustees, and other members of the University
community; scholars worldwide; and visitors to the CIIS campus. Our
team works hard, but we have healthy boundaries, deep respect for
one another, and enjoys having fun.
This person provides strategic support to CIIS' digital
communications efforts, focusing on the overall appearance,
production, schedule, and maintenance of the University's digital
presence, including writing and editing, graphic production for
social media and web, web and mobile content, video content and
project management of larger-scale content production projects.
They will be organized, creative, and motivated.
The position is a part of the integrated marketing team and
collaborates with Creative Services to manage the strategic
production of digital content to align with messaging, quality
assurance, and best practices. They will also assist colleagues
across divisions/departments regarding content, technical issues,
and general digital communications strategies for outreach to
current students, faculty, staff, prospective students, donors,
partners, and the alumni community.
This position is overseen by the Assistant Director of Integrated
Marketing, and reports to the Director of Communications and
Strategic Relations.
Specific responsibilities include:
Creating digital media assets to support messaging and storytelling
efforts led by the communications team.
Managing CIIS' social media accounts - including creating posts,
developing consistent content, managing comments/messages, and
monitoring CIIS' brand, voice, image, and reputation.
Creating campaigns for all social media channels to publicize CIIS
stories, events, and initiatives.
Developing content (e.g., copywriting, graphics, photos, video
concepts, etc.) for web and social media platforms to meet
enrollment and retention targets, development initiatives, and
University strategic goals.
Developing strategies for digital communication outside the
traditional communication plans to support strategic
initiatives.
Monitoring competitive social media landscape.
Reporting analytics and developing data-driven goals and
tactics.
Working with our multimedia media manager to produce video content,
manage photo shoots, optimize the team's existing content for
social, web and email, and create new digital content.
Organizing and facilitating focus groups with various audiences,
including current students, prospective students, donors, partners,
etc. to ensure content across all platforms is resonating with
target audiences.
Working closely with CIIS community partners to help build cohesion
across program/division/school accounts, set internal guidelines,
and share key campus messaging.
Working with the director of communications and the media relations
manager to manage constituent complaints and reputational issues
and other high priorities on digital channels.
Manage digital community-building through social media channels,
email, and the web.
Providing social media training, guidance, and best practices to
CIIS staff who are managing social media properties representing
the University.
May supervise student workers.
Occasional work outside of standard work hours may be required to
cover campus events.
Job Requirements:
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Knowledge of the web, technology, social platforms, current and
future trends.
Excellent writing and editing skills across a wide variety of
channels.
Demonstrated experience and knowledge of concepts and principles of
social media and marketing, including significant experience
working on the following social media platforms: Facebook, Twitter,
TikTok, Instagram, YouTube, Vimeo.
Demonstrated ability to stay current on social media best practices
and to advise on adoption of new platforms and channels as
necessary.
Working knowledge of Adobe Illustrator, InDesign, Photoshop,
Premiere (or other video editing software), and Acrobat; Microsoft
Excel, Word, Powerpoint, Canva, Google Slides, Prezi, Visme.
Knowledge of website best practices, including UI (user interface
design), UX (user experience design), writing for SEO.
Ability to work independently and as part of a team and with large
numbers of people in various areas of organizational
responsibility.
Ability to effectively manage numerous projects simultaneously in
various stages of development, and to effectively develop,
implement and coordinate long-range departmental goals.
Ability to work under pressure of deadlines, utilizing excellent
organizational skills, time management efficiency, and careful
attention to details.
Must work well with peers in a collaborative environment.
Must exhibit careful attention to detail.
A portfolio of prior work and writing samples are required.
Preferred Qualifications
Interest in higher education, mental health, wellness,
spirituality, social justice, and/or culture.
Higher education social media and digital content.
Experience with Jenzabar Recruitment Manager and ActOn is a
plus.

LOCATION
This position is located in San Francisco, CA, but options for
flexible or hybrid remote work are possible.

Working Conditions - Duties are primarily performed in an office
environment at a desk or computer terminal, typically Monday
through Friday.
