The Accounting Manager manages the day-to-day functions of the
Finance Department's accounting function to ensure compliance with
GAAP. Supervises several Finance Department staff including P2P
Accounting Specialist and Senior Staff Accountants. Reviews
subordinate work for accuracy and compliance with reporting
requirements. Leads the monthly, quarterly, and annual closes.
Assists in coordination of annual audit. Will play an integral role
throughout the organization in creating value through the Finance
for All Initiative. This is an exempt position. This position
reports to the Controller.
Key Duties and Responsibilities:
--- Ensures compliance with federal, state and local regulations
governing non-profit organizations
--- Reviews and updates controls
--- Assists Controller with updates of policies and procedures
--- Assists in preparation of financial statements and agency
--- Assists Controller in preparation for annual audit.
--- Assists Controller with preparation of schedules for Forms 990.
Assists Controller with review of auditors' drafts of Forms 990
--- Leads surprise cash counts at retail locations
--- Assists in preparation of regulatory reports and reports to
Board of Trustees
--- Collaborates with National Parks Service and Presidio Trust
--- Ensures accounts payable are paid in a timely manner
--- Ensures lease payments are made on a timely basis
--- Ensures timely completion of monthly and year-end closing
--- Maintains the chart of accounts
--- Assist in maintenance a system of internal controls,
identifying areas of risks
--- Recruits, manages, and develops Department staff
--- Leads planning and facilitation of Department meetings
--- Responsible for systems administration or accounting systems
and related applications (ex. Sage Intacct)
--- Responsible for systems administration of third-party
applications, such as financial institution portals for banking and
treasury management services, among others
--- Identifies and recommends the implementation of applications
with new functionality to enhance the efficiency and effectiveness
of the accounting and financial reporting function, such as P2P
systems (i.e., automated accounts payable and etc.), Nexonia
(expense reporting system), among others
--- Drive improvements across department processes and
Education and Experience:
--- Bachelor of Science Degree in Accounting or Finance
--- 3+ years' experience in managing accounting functions in
--- Strong knowledge on regulations governing non-profit
--- Prior audit experience preferred

Physical Requirements and Work Environments:
--- Work is performed in an office setting
--- Work is primarily performed sitting, standing or walking
--- Regularly sits at a computer station and operates electronic
equipment 6 to 8 hours per day
