About YouWe are looking for a candidate who is excited to tackle complex questions, capture internal perspectives, formulate & test hypotheses to inform a clear point-of-view and thoughtful recommendations.The research function at SmartNews is fairly new, and the opportunity for making a strategic impact is vast. You will leverage research to inspire marketing campaigns, brand positioning, develop a robust understanding of peoples informational needs, motivations, goals, experiences, expectations, and decision-making, help develop internal research practices and systems, and work closely across product, marketing, design, and data to make your impact.
Requirements

  • 5 years of market research experience, Bachelors degree and/or equivalent work experience in psychology, market research, economics or related field
  • Deep knowledge and expertise writing screeners, surveys and discussion guides
  • Proven experience of framing ambiguous problems and creatively leveraging different types of custom and syndicated research
  • Experience across qualitative and quantitative methods that inform product and brand strategy
  • Understanding of market research fundamentals, experimental design, and statistics
  • Strong written and presentation skills, including ability to communicate complex ideas
  • Passion for storytelling with data
  • Highly self-motivated, proactive, and comfortable balancing multiple priorities
  • Ability to juggle multiple projects in parallel and work effectively in a fast-paced environment with changing priorities and a diverse team
  • 2+ years of hands-on experience with online survey tools (e.g., Qualtrics, SurveyMonkey or similar tools)
    Nice to Haves
    • Strategic thinker - understands & is excited about digital marketing, advertising and product innovation
    • Experience working with marketing / brand / product / data science / teams
    • Prior work or internship experience developing and launching new products in consumer tech, packaged goods, or mobile apps
    • Prior work or internship experience related to the media or publishing industry
    • Experience driving results in smaller start-ups or international businesses
    • Experience moderating focus groupby Jobble
