Job Description
This position will champion and lead the execution of Search Engine Optimization (SEO) for the business-for-sale brands (BizBuySell, BizQuest, FindaFranchise) at CoStar Group, Inc. The role will collaborate with digital marketers, product managers, software developers, and other internal teams to ensure the highest level of discoverability for CoStar's business-for-sale content. The successful candidate will bring significant experience in SEO, digital product management, and online marketing, and will be one of the company's key digital thought leaders.
The position will also lead the development of content on CoStar's Digital Business-for-Sale properties to support both SEO and overall user experience. The role will help define a strategy to use content to improve both SEO and the site user experience while driving business KPIs, and work with internal and external resources to execute on that strategy. The role will work with freelance and on-staff writers, community managers, product managers, and marketers.

  • Develop SEO strategies, evangelize the importance of SEO, deploy SEO best practices within the organization, provide recommendations for improvement of the websites (including site architecture, URL structures, on-page ranking factors, image, video and content optimization, etc.), and oversee the implementation of those recommendations
  • Develop an integrated plan to implement SEO across a network of related brands and to ensure that the brands collectively grow their total SEO share of voice within the business-for-sale space
  • Develop a comprehensive and disciplined approach to reporting for SEO that demonstrates the effectiveness of the organization's SEO efforts relative to its competition. Track and report against these key performance indicators for SEO and content projects
  • Work with outside vendors, agencies consultants and internal experts as necessary to bolster the capacity and skills required for world class SEO performance
  • Facilitate SEO Training sessions to ensure marketing, technical, and product development staff remain current on the latest SEO Best Practices
  • Develop and lead implementation of a comprehensive strategy for using content to improve both SEO and the user experience while driving desired business outcomes (conversions)
  • Create a prioritized roadmap of content development projects and updates that generate the highest ROI to CoStar
  • Ensure content is created with SEO best practices in mind (keyword research, etc)
  • Identify internal or external resources required to implement content projects; manage the execution of the projects; supervise quality control and fact checking
  • Work with product management to integrate developed content into the user experience.
    Basic Qualifications
    • Bachelor's degree
    • 3+ years of experience as a dedicated SEO Analyst for an agency or in-house
    • Advanced understanding and knowledge of SEO Best Practices and the latest search engine algorithm updates. This also includes vertical search services such as image search, video search and news search, and impact of social media to SEO
    • Proven ability to develop strategies and manage projects which will drive organic search traffic to the site; proven track record in managing SEO projects from inception to completion
    • Ability to drive clear, thoughtful, and comprehensive analyses of marketing programs
    • Ability to provide critical thinking skills to solve problems and think strategically
    • Proven track record assuming ownership, moving quickly to implement ideas, and delivering results and in a fast-paced online environment
    • Proven ability to work closely with both technical (software development) teams as well as a wide variety of key stakeholders across disparate functional areas in the company
    • Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Must be comfortable with speaking in front of a wide variety of audiences including company executives
      Preferred Qualifications
      • 5+ years direct experience in content development, product management, or digital marketing
      • Experience managing SEO for a large-scale website, ideally for an online marketplace focused on lead generation in the real estate or hospitality industries
      • Expertise in designing internal SEO reporting systems and understanding and using external SEO tools such as Moz, Conductor or BrightEdge
      • Agile product management and software development experience
      • Advanced knowledge in the use of Google & Bing Webmaster Tools
      • Hands on experience with Google Analytics
      • Familiarity with web development platforms and languages such as HTML, CSS and JavaScript.
      • Solid data analysis skills and the ability to identify actionable insights from large datasets; strong Excel and quantitative analysis skills
