At Mission Barns, you'll have the freedom to dream big and do the best work of your life.In this role, you will be responsible for contributing critical operations design elements to Mission Barns' production facility. This will involve establishing an operations team to run our production plant. You and your team will build a robust operations philosophy for the production process. This role will work closely with Facilities and Engineering to provide input on the facility design and build in strong safety and Lean principles. The role will also work closely with the Manufacturing Science and Technology team to establish cGMP compliant SOPs, tickets, and protocols for operation and oversight of the production process.     • Partner with Facilities, Engineering and CTO to develop tech transfer protocols, overall plant design, and operating procedures.
    • Develop resource (staff, shift schedules, support) plans for the Manufacturing group to meet strategic objectives.
    • Direct all aspects of manufacturing operations staff including upstream, harvest and support services.
    • Plan, develop and oversee group budget and strategic staffing plans.
    • Develop, implement and oversee group objectives, ensuring alignment with company goals.
    • Work in partnership with Quality Operations to ensure cGMP is maintained.
    • Work in partnership with Process Development, MSAT and Quality organization to ensure successful tech transfer and startup.
    • Create and implement business metrics to measure and drive plant performance.
    • Lead a proactive and collaborative culture of employee learning and development.
    • Lead, motivate, and coach operations staff
    • Represent Manufacturing at the company leadership team.About you
      • Degree in Chemical Engineering, Bioprocess Engineering, Biotechnology, Cell and Molecular Biology, or related discipline. Advanced degree preferred.
      • 7+ years industrial experience in cGMP upstream bioprocessing. Expertise in large-scale mammalian cell culture or cell therapy production is strongly preferred.
      • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
      • Strong team lead with the demonstrated ability to manage and support manufacturing operations in a flexible and dynamic team environment.
      • Experience with Lean and 5S principles is a plus.
      • Flexibility to design an operating philosophy and resource operations in the context of a fast-paced startup environment.
