Associate Chief Nursing Officer, Ambulatory Services Clinic Administration Full Time 57230BR Job Summary The final salary and offer components are subject to additional approvals based on UC policy.

The Associate Chief Nursing Officer (ACNO) in the Faculty Practice Organization (FPO) is responsible for the leadership and administration of nursing practice and standards of registered nurses, licensed vocational nurses, medical assistants, and associated ancillary staff within the FPO. The ACNO serves as a key resource for problem identification and resolution, program development and planning, policy creation and implementation, and long range planning for staff development and competency.

The ACNO provides leadership and direction in the planning, implementation, and evaluation of UCSF Health strategic goals, quality & performance improvement, financial performance, nursing practice and resource utilization. The ACNO contributes to the nursing services and the clinical enterprise through support of philosophy, objectives, and educational efforts. The ACNO oversees FPO staff responsible for ensuring clinical competency and regulatory readiness in FPO. The ACNO provides advice and recommendations regarding effective and efficient nursing care provision, patient care policy & procedure, standards of infection prevention, program development, and implementation of state/federal regulations and The Joint Commission Standards.

The ACNO serves as a mentor, facilitator, and consultant for Ambulatory Directors, Managers, Supervisors, Providers, Clinical staff, Professional/Administrative and office staff, and assistive personnel, and other disciplines as assigned. The ACNO works closely with Department Chairs, Medical Directors, and medical staff.

-- Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree in Nursing
  • Master's Degree
  • Active Registered Nurse licensure in the State of California
  • Active American Heart Association CPR certification
  • Seven to ten years of administrative responsibility within a complex academic health care organization with progressive experience in nursing leadership positions at a Director level position or higher
  • Five years clinical practice leadership experience in an ambulatory clinic setting
  • Two years' experience with knowledge of Joint Commission accreditation standards, survey process and other CDPH/CMS regulatory requirements in an ambulatory setting
  • Extensive knowledge of clinic / center patient care management. Highly developed knowledge of appropriate professional standards for a multidisciplinary team. Highly developed knowledge of patient population served and the requirements for the delivery of services.
  • Advanced communications and interpersonal skills to promote an effective model of shared governance among multiple disciplines. Ability to motivate and engage all levels of staff in regards to patient care programs, strategies, and organizational mission and values.
  • Advanced leadership, fiscal, and operations management skills. Ability to develop nurse / clinical leaders in their adoption and promotion of a shared governance model of collaboration
  • Ability to develop a systems strategic plan and implement vision across a large, complex organization.
  • In-depth knowledge of relevant regulatory requirements, as well as legislative, accreditation, licensing, and compliance environments.
  • Highly advanced ability to successfully direct clinic / center patient care and / or clinic operations including developing strategic plans, creating benchmarks, integrating programs and functions, and fiscal management.
  • In-depth knowledge of current and emerging best practices and technologies in the clinic / center healthcare industry
  • The flexibility to orient and work at all UCSF Health--locations Preferred Qualifications
    • Doctoral Degree in Nursing
    • Recognized certification in nursing leadership or administration
    • Experience in facility planning and major building projects
    • Working knowledge of UCSF policies and procedures
    • Experience in a unionized environment License/Certification
      • Active Registered Nurse licensure in the State of California
