Position Description The Senior Director, Accounting Operations will be responsible for process optimization and ensuring that implemented processes are followed. This role is based in Palo Alto or Princeton, New Jersey and reports to the VP of Finance Operations in Copenhagen, Denmark. Key Responsibilities

• Lead all accounting operations and drive monthly, quarterly, and year-end closing processes based on IFRS in timely fashion
• Ensures successful implementation and cooperation with 3PL partner
• Ensures correct booking of US revenue and reconciliation of Gross-to-Net
• Maintenance and optimization of finance systems including update of master data, guidelines, templates etc.
• Review payment proposals - and release for payment approval in DK
• Books bank transactions and reconciliation of bank accounts, cash reporting duties
• Prepare reconciliation of accounts receivables
• Interact with Group reporting on technical accounting activities and ensure that group guidelines are followed
• Implement, document, and maintain adequate and effective internal controls and processes to ensure timely and accurate financial reporting
• Manage the Accounting related functions including but not limited to account analysis and reconciliation, AP and fixed asset administration, month end close, monthly accrual entries as well as accurately tracking clinical trial activity completion overall to date and by site
• Prepares monthly US GAAP financial statements
• Drive continuous improvement of financial tools and financial accounting processes that can scale with the company's growth
• Manage the preparation and submission of Federal and State income tax returns, sales and use, payroll, and other local tax business license filings
• Works closely with VP Finance, FP&A colleagues, and business leaders in several areas including, but not limited to, cash management; new systems design and implementation; accounting reporting and regulatory compliance for the Company's anticipated future operations
• Review of reconciliations vendor account statements
• Overall responsibility for the communication and reporting to HQ
• Responsible for day to day communication with the bank
• Verify, allocate, post, and reconcile accounts
• Produce error-free accounting reports
• Ensure accounting team meets the deadlines in month close
• Responsible for internal assets recording for the US entity
• Serves as a superuser in D365 finance module
• Contributes to the team's success while simultaneously attending to the cost-control and profitability interests of the Company
• Perform such accounting, financial and/or administrative tasks, as required Requirements
  • 15+ years of related experience with a bachelor's degree in Accounting or a related field of study; CPA preferred.
  • Experience within the Pharma/biotech industry and commercial product required.
  • In-depth experience with IFRS and US GAAP, with a detailed understanding of accounting methods, reporting, bookkeeping, reconciliations, and revenue recognition, SEC reporting requirements, and SOX regulations
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving skills, and collaboration skills critical to the role.
  • Play a key role in developing and implementing efficient processes and that will scale with the company
  • Highest standards of accuracy and precision; extremely organized, detail-oriented, and mindful of deadlines
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to articulate issues and solutions to all levels of management.

  • Experience with ERP and accounting system, preferably with D365
  • Demonstrated success in fast paced emerging environment as well as experience in mid-size and larger public companies
