And the people who answer it are fulfilled.***This is a remote position and can be based anywhere in the U.S.--JOB SUMMARYThe Managing Director of Social, Content & Paid Media will be responsible for leading the vision and execution of strategic social and paid media (digital and traditional) and other digital engagement-based initiatives.They are responsible for the marriage of message (content) and medium (organic and paid) and leading much of our broad and targeted outreach with the goal of building affinity for ACS and our key brand initiatives, driving revenue growth, generating qualified leads and supporting our critical mission initiatives.--These include leading our digital content strategy in partnership with our Communications & Marketing team and/or outside agency partners, developing and managing paid and organic social and digital campaigns, identifying and fostering relationships with influencers and those on a cancer journey to develop UGC content, managing social communities, partnering with the ACS corporate team on monetizing outreach and ensuring we articulate our mission deliverables in a compelling, engaging way. A successful candidate will be a social media native and up to date on emerging platforms and audience trends.This position also leads our paid media campaigns and our media agency relationships with the goal of efficiently spending media dollars to reach core and emerging audiences and improving our return on investment and return on ad spend.S/he is metrics driven and will use results (engagement, ROI, etc.) to drive decision making while also having a sense of the stories and content that will resonate with key audiences. They will effectively and collaboratively across organizational boundaries, exert influence and will have a clear subject matter expertise in not only the vertical of social and paid media but also digital as a whole. S/he will be a cultural change agent having demonstrated competencies in proactive and innovative positioning and reputation management.MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIESSTRATEGY & GROWTH

  • Lead the channel strategy for all B2C and B2B based digital properties at the national level and provide guidance and training to our field staff. Goal is to enhance understanding of ACS's mission, build brand advocates and drive revenue growth. Key channels include Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, LinkedIn, TikTok, YouTube and emerging channels.
  • Collaborate with key stakeholders and/or lead digital agency partnerships to identify opportunities and executions in the digital space, contributing from inception to realization for both mission and revenue products and programs, including the branded social channels for the American Cancer Society, Relay For Life, Making Strides Against Breast Cancer and Coaches Vs. Cancer
  • Drive innovation as ACS explores new ways to engage with consumers via social, content and media channels and lead betas for new social products and programs.
  • Develop annual plans to drive brand relevance and revenue while achieving specific business goals including growing followers, increasing engagement, revenue growth and key mission priorities
  • Manage and profitably grow revenue on social platforms, estimated at over $30 million annually
  • Assist in sales cultivation, upselling, and relationship management for high-profile corporate and sports marketing accounts. Develop social/digital marketing strategies and campaigns for top Fortune 500 companies.
  • Develop and execute a digital gaming strategy to increase engagement and identify revenue and brand building opportunitiesCONTENT
    • Lead a team to efficiently and effectively deliver digital content and secure buy-in across a complex organization that is engaging and that also generates interest in our brands, leads, donors and advocates. This includes development of video, GIFs, static posts and other organic and paid ad units.
    • Champions an "audience first" approach to content development and media buying to ensure ACS stories resonate with desired audiences.
    • Oversee cultivation of influencers in the cancer space or those with relevant digital followings to generate compelling content and stories and amplify ACS voice
    • Work closely with content leaders to ensure the brand, image and reputation priorities are reflected in annual plans and consistently executedSOCIAL/COMMUNITY
      • Forge partnerships with key social and digital channels so that ACS has access to early tests and betas that can increase visibility, engagement and/or revenue
      • Develop and implement a social customer engagement strategy, including social care and community management to ensure audiences feel heard and are connected to relevant services or events
      • Build out ACS's influencer strategy to develop relationships that amplify our mission and fundraising initiatives.
      • Support the reputation and brand strategy as well as revenue goals.
      • Manage multiple agencies and product providers to drive results for the organization while managing costs.PAID MEDIA
        • Lead the strategic approach and the team overseeing paid media (traditional, social, digital)
        • Provide direction and manage our agency relationships to ensure we are wise stewards of media dollars and optimize results around mission and revenue priorities
        • Develop and execute influencer marketing program to cultivate ambassadors to amplify the ACS brand and key initiatives.
        • Lead the social team, agencies, and cross-functionally, analytics SEMs to formulate and implement policies, procedures and measurement designed to develop a world-class social practice for ACS.
        • Manage engagement budget including hard and soft costs.Position RequirementsFORMAL KNOWLEDGE:--The right candidate will have a degree in communications, marketing or a related field; previous experience in the development and implementation of social media planning and buying strategies and a strong familiarity with online marketing best practices; 10+ years of marketing experience including 7+ years leading a team.COMPETENCIES/SKILLS:Demonstrates Marketing Competencies: Manages ambiguity, Collaborates, Customer focus, Cultivates innovation, Plans and aligns, Drives results, Builds effective teams, Drives vision and purposeOther Skills

          • Solid understanding of digital marketing best practices including digital media, user experience, mobile, social media, email and SEM/SEO
          • Salesforce experience a plus as we leverage marketing cloud and social studio to power our digital marketing efforts
          • Solid understanding of digital fundraising strategies and platforms
          • Experience and fluency with digital platforms such as CRM, eCommerce, workflow-based content management, and industry-standard digital analytics tools
          • Detail oriented with the ability to handle multiple assignments and deadlines, to prioritize assignments as necessary, and to work well under pressure
          • Demonstrated organizational and time management skills
