Edelman is searching for a senior-level public relations leader/Senior Vice President to lead our Bay Area Biotech and Healthcare Practice. In this role, you will help manage this growing area in partnership with Edelman's Western Region and U.S. Health teams. Only strong self-starters and team players need apply. This is an opportunity to leverage your expertise in the biotech, pharmaceutical, Health IT and medical device industries as well as your intimate knowledge of the Bay Area business landscape to expand Edelman's Healthcare PR business. Experience leading digital and integrated marketing campaigns is highly desired. You will need to have a strong record of building relationships in the local healthcare communities as well as proven experience developing and leading communications strategies for healthcare products and corporations. With perceptions of health shifting from something that needs to be fixed to something that should be developed and improved within each facet of people's daily lifestyle, Edelman believes health is everyone's business. We're looking for an imaginative and entrepreneurial leader to help think differently for Edelman, bringing big, creative ideas to clients and pushing staff to think across disciplines - from media relations, to patient advocacy, to physician-oriented communications, and medical research. RESPONSIBILITIES: - Provide strategic counsel, guidance and leadership to staff, supervising several staff members, and ensuring the team's success by managing work quality and productivity levels - Maintain relationships with client contacts and internal colleagues - Collaborate with internal teams as needed to provide strategic thinking and programming support across multiple practice areas - Provide staff with strategic counsel, guidance and leadership and mentor team members to ensure constant development of their skills related to understanding issues facing the biotech, pharma, health IT or medical device industries - Partner with internal teams to develop and execute successful, creative digital and social marketing campaigns - Grow business prospects with existing clients; expand scope of work using Edelman network capabilities; lead new business outreach process and win business for market - Participate in the development and adoption of new products/services; leverage IP with clients - Provide multi-stakeholder communications counsel, planning and strategy - Commit to continuous learning and improvement of leadership skills; set and pursue stretch goals - Seek and suggest process improvements and support positive change initiatives - Ensure team's success by managing work quality and productivity levels; manage staff utilization to meet profitability targets - Demonstrate behaviors consistent with Edelman's values (Quality, Integrity, Respect, Entrepreneurial Spirit, Mutual Benefits) and Code of Ethics and Business Conduct BASIC QUALIFICATIONS: The ideal candidate must have at least 10 years of relevant health experience in public relations and/or related fields including communications, research, advertising, management consulting, media or publishing. PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS: The Senior Vice President should have a bachelor's degree in a related field and a track record of developing and executing profitable public relations campaigns that meet client objectives. S/he should have strong leadership qualities including superb people management skills. S/he should be able to attract, motivate, empower, coach and retain staff. Previous experience leading integrated marketing campaigns is desired.
