Job Description:

We're looking for a candidate to fill this position in an exciting company.

  • Manage Affinity Chapters:--
  • Launch and manage operations for the School's affinity chapters including the Asian Pacific Islander, Black, Latino/a/x, and Native alumni communities and their programming efforts. Assist with the creation of new groups as appropriate. Recruit, train, and oversee volunteers, provide strategy and guidance to alumni leaders, and serve as a resource for their efforts to strengthen their communities and connections with current students. Provide support and direction for alumni-led programs, mentoring, workshops, gatherings, and conferences on campus, off campus, and virtually. Manage budgets and cost negotiations as appropriate.
  • Oversee Diversity Leadership in External Relations--
  • In conjunction with--External Relations leadership, develop and lead the strategy to expand the pipeline of diverse volunteer leaders in law school and university alumni leadership roles to ensure that these communities are represented.
  • Work closely with the School External Relations gift officers in their efforts to engage underrepresented communities. Create best practices to ensure all alumni feel welcome and included in law school programs and events. Benchmark efforts at other schools.
  • Staff Management
  • He/she/they will co-manage the Alumni Relations Coordinator and the Alumni Engagement Officer along with the Director of Alumni Relations. These individuals support the Director of Diverse Communities and the Director of Alumni Relations in the execution of alumni programs and communications.
  • Build and Maintain Relationships with Law School and Campus Partners:
  • Partner with departments across the law school to identify opportunities for underrepresented law school alumni to engage with the university. Participate in regular meetings with campus partners to share best-practices and discuss opportunities and challenges around issues of diversity.
    • ´╗┐Education & Experience:
    • Bachelor's degree and seven years of relevant experience or combination of education and relevant experience.
    • Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
    • Excellent management skills, including coaching and developing staff.
    • Experience working with cross-functional teams.
    • Strong track record as relationship builder and collaborator.
    • Strong ability to understand customer needs, show good judgment and diplomacy, and a high tolerance for ambiguity.
    • Strong interpersonal, team and leadership skills; tact and flexibility in working with diverse population groups.
    • Excellent strategic, organizational, and project management skills and the ability to simultaneously plan and execute multiple projects.
    • Demonstrated ability to work effectively with decision makers across many levels of an organization.
    • Excellent written and oral communication and presentation skills.--
    • Certifications and Licenses:
    • Valid California Non-commercial Class Driver's License.
    • PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
    • Constantly perform desk-based tasks.
    • Frequently stand/walk, sit.
    • Occasionally grasp forcefully, use a telephone, lift/carry/push/pull objects that weigh up to 40 pounds.
    • Rarely writing by hand, sort/file paperwork or parts.
    • Ability to obtain and maintain a California Non-commercial Class license.´╗┐
