Your Opportunity
The Senior Healthcare Plumbing Engineer/Designer designs projects from conception to completion, attends project meetings, performs existing condition site surveys, and directs other designers. This role is ideal for a senior-level candidate who wants to lead in delivering projects to clients. Your Key Responsibilities



  • Implement well-defined methods for collecting and analyzing data from the physical work site, surveys, as-built drawings, data, technical drawings, computer-generated reports, and other matrices for project development, design, and construction in conjunction with the project team.


  • Understand and apply engineering principles and fundamentals and perform life cycle cost analyses and energy/cost calculations for plumbing systems.


  • Prepare basis of design reports and technical presentations that explain code requirements, findings, and design recommendations to improve, prevent, or address design and/or construction issues or opportunities.


  • Perform professional plumbing engineering work plans and conduct inspections of proposed and existing site conditions, equipment, resources, and buildings.


  • Write new specification sections; develop new details, as required for project needs.


  • Assist with the development and scoping of medium-sized projects.


  • Provide guidance and training to entry-level engineers.


  • Interact with regulatory agencies, contractors, architects, and clients in a confident and professional manner.


  • Lead & mentor junior and mid-level engineers & designers on all of their plumbing design responsibilities.


  • Review and Q.C. all work of plumbing engineering work.


  • Work collaboratively with other engineers, architects, and authorities having jurisdiction.


    Qualifications
    Your Capabilities and Credentials


    • Working knowledge of medical gases


    • Project management experience with small to mid-level projects, including tracking hours and expenses for project work.


    • Effective interpersonal and communication skills when interacting with others, expressing ideas effectively and professionally to an engineering and non-engineering audience, and being able to direct other individuals in the design of plumbing systems.


    • Perform well within multiple project delivery methods (design-build, design-bid-build, IPD, etc.)


    • Remain current in the latest plumbing engineering techniques and practices.


    • Working knowledge of: California Plumbing Code, National Plumbing Code, California Energy Code, HCAI Codes and Regulations including PINs and CANs, NFPA-99, Microsoft Office Suite, Bluebeam, Revit, and AutoCAD.


    • Proficient with plumbing engineering and design


      Education and Experience


      • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical engineering or equivalent in related field plus 7-10 years of relevant experience or equivalent combination of education and experience and/or demonstrated skills.


      • Minimum 10 years' experience in a similar role designing plumbing and medical gas systems for new and renovation projects within the Healthcare market, such as hospitals and medical office buildings in addition to support buildings and central plants.


      • California P.E. or CPD is preferred.


      • P.E. registration in other states is a plus.


      • HCAI/OSHPD experience is preferred.


        Typical office environment working with computers and remaining sedentary for long periods of time. Field work may include exposure to the elements including inclement weather.
