Description: Petra is looking for a Mechanical Engineer who will be a part of their Robotics, Mechanical Engineering, and Manufacturing team. Candidate needs to have at least 5-7 years of experience and have hands-on experience. The primary function of this role is to conceptualize, design and oversee the creation and implementation of critical subsystems to system-level requirements. Fabrication and prototyping experience is necessary, and the candidate needs to know how to make their own parts, and develop solutions on the fly, Candidate will also have to travel to their testing site in Yosemite, and will go thru phases of 2-3 weeks at time. While traveling, the schedule is 3 weeks on, one week off Responsibilities: Design components and subassemblies, which includes Actuators, hydraulic systems, lidar, flow sensors, and pumps Quickly generate conceptual drawings/CAD to present design directions to solve complex mechanical system problems. Turn conceptual drawings into fully-featured CAD designs, including creating detailed engineering drawings that communicate GD&T clearly. Build and validate all relevant designs both on a subsystem level and with an understanding of where/when each type of test is important. Product mechanical design, with an emphasis on top-level CAD assemblies, integration of hardware subsystems, and design for reliability. Drive full documentation of mechanical design, including BOM, drawings, and procedures. Skills: cad software, GD&T, solidworks, testing, Mechanical engineering, Design, prototyping, fabrication, Mechanical design, Cad, Machine design, Mechanical Top Skills Details: cad software,GD&T,solidworks,testing,Mechanical engineering,Design,prototyping,fabrication Additional Skills & Qualifications: - At least 5 years of post-educational experience working on complex electro-mechanical systems such as industrial, aerospace, automotive or robotics products. - SolidWorks or similar CAD experience with best practices for part design, advanced assemblies, complex configuration management. - Experience in the design of complex mechanical products and equipment through the full product development cycle from inception through maturity including creating associated documentation (specs, test plans, drawings, etc.).
